November is Hop Burns & Black's 4th birthday month so what better way to celebrate than by bringing back the one and only Chilli Karaoke? It?s the hottest and stupidest singing competition in the world!

The rules are simple - choose your song, start to sing it, get rudely interrupted by our MC, eat a scotch bonnet chilli pepper, and continue on to finish your song - if you can. The winner - decided by our esteemed panel of judges - receives a ?100 voucher to spend at HB&B and everlasting glory.

Chilli Karaoke: Southern Edition takes place upstairs at the Old Nun?s Head from 8pm this Friday 16th November with well known local larrikin, comedian Lewis Blomfield, assuming the MC duties. Expect no mercy. Tickets are just ?5 on the door or at hopburnsblack.co.uk/events for probably the best night of your life. Or the worst. You can decide that in the morning...

    • The Council allowed The Co op rear customer car parking area to be built on and as a result, the roads around, had customers parking in their road. and the Councils answer to that is CPZ in the whole area. the residents of Ashbourne grove do not want CPZ, as they feel its just another stealth tax, and that the money is going into street maintenance, for which we already pay exorbitant High Rates. another income for life for the Council and will increase year on year like the garden waste bins and cycle bins.
    • How mean-minded to call the creative project of a group of enterprising youngsters, using their time productively 'foul'?  Surely taking the initiative to set this u,p so young people can be outside and exercising is a positive and productive thing to be admired? 'Underage drinking and drugs' are more likely to happen when young people have nowhere to go and nothing to do (plus they can take place anywhere!) . How is a derelict pub better?
