Peckhamgatecrasher
Oh that's a shame - Strauss was doing so nicely. Let's hope you are not right Atticus - that would be a spectacular collapse. Atticus
Thankfully, I wasn't!!!A draw out of this would be great! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2096-idle-cricket-musing/page/45/#findComment-386820 Share on other sites

????
Good as a victory IMO, England have looked the better side and not had the luck and a hatrick is a bit of a freak occurence which distorted the game. Momentum with England. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2096-idle-cricket-musing/page/45/#findComment-386839 Share on other sites
kpc
Pleasing thing about the second innings is the amount of time England have spent at the crease. Too often in the recent past they have scored at 3.5/4 an over but been all out in 80 overs. Yesterday was far more disciplined. Hope they can maintain this tonight, make the game safe and maybe have 30/35 hostile overs to rattle a few of the Aussie top order. Loz
Can't see anything but a draw unless England collapse or they get the long handles out. They're not scoring fast enough to make the games safe (about 250 lead) before tea, when they really need to declare in the hour after lunch to get enough time to bowl us out.Interesting test though. Should be a corker of a series. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2096-idle-cricket-musing/page/45/#findComment-386935 Share on other sites
Peckhamgatecrasher
Oh wow - what great figures for Cook and Trott to wake up to.Looks like we're on for the draw which considering the first innings is not bad. Huguenot
An excellent result after the first innings. We really ground their noses in it in the second innings, it was a shame we let them off the hook a bit with some silly fielding errors in the last hour or so. It'll give them confidence they don't deserve.Decent of Strauss to let Punter get his 50 though. Narnia
They play for 5 days and it's a draw and everyone knew it was going to be a draw after 4 days. What sort of a game is this? Mick Mac
Drawn matches are ok Declan, but when its a 5 match drawn series, then it does seem a lot of effort for no winner. But I guess a gentlemanly drawn series is quite nice. If you can't decide who is best after 5 matches then perhaps a draw is the appropriate outcome. Tea anyone. But if you've been up watching it then it's been a fascinating test, with advantage swinging one way then the other. It's a bit like having an enjoyable 0-0 draw in football. Loz
England has such a friendly team. Looks like if Trott didn't have his helmet grill in place, Cook would be slipping the tongue in...http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/50193000/jpg/_50193041__50192576_cook_dt_getty766.jpg Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2096-idle-cricket-musing/page/45/#findComment-387073 Share on other sites

Huguenot
The wife just got confused between a tie and a draw.Oddly enough, a tie is often the most spectacular game of cricket.I shall leave it to you and Mr. Google to find out why that should be, and when it has happened in test cricket... ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2096-idle-cricket-musing/page/45/#findComment-387083 Share on other sites

Brendan
not sure about any daughters but my son has been sleeping through quite disgracefully. So much so that his dad felt confident enough to go pub last night. He had a whole 3 pints, stumbled home and slept for 15 hours himself. All very disgraceful. Why, is there some sort of cricket match going on?
