sillywoman
in fact I still use almost all of those techniques with my teens. Well, they work. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20887-do-you-have-boys/#findComment-506666 Share on other sites
pripolla
I don't have boys, still the link is interesting. Does anyone know of something similar for parents of girls? Moos
Brilliant, thank you so much Yak - lots to take away and try.I do find walking and talking a bit difficult with my 4yo though, due to the height difference. But the principle makes complete sense. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20887-do-you-have-boys/#findComment-506738 Share on other sites
cuppa tea
Interesting they say that time-outs don't work for under 5s. And weird seeming as everyone uses them. They have never worked in our house and we dropped them along time ago...so it's nice to hear that I am not completely on the wrong track! candj
Thanks so much for this. My third is a boy and my goodness they are so different to girls. Also liked Stephen Biddulph's "Raising Boys" book. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20887-do-you-have-boys/#findComment-506915 Share on other sites
Belle
I like the bit about active boys - I always think I need to get my son out at least once, preferably twice a day - like having a dog! sillywoman
A friend of mine had four boys who were all a couple of years ahead of mine. Her advice to me when I had son number 3 was "think of them in the same vein as dogs. They need to be fed regularly and exercised regularly & then they'll do just fine." I think she was right. helena handbasket
I think she's onto something. A friend with three boys recently told me: "everything I know about parenting I learned from the Dog Whisperer", which I thought was pretty funny.
