Thank you to the parents who attended this morning's meeting at the One O clock Club.

To those of you unable to attend, local Councillors, myself (Peckham Rye) and Nick Dolezal (Lane) attended. Cabinet members Cllrs Catherine McDonald and Veronica Ward came and Catherine opened the meeting, talking about the severity of cuts to Southwark's budget from central goverment both to our core grant and to Child specific service funding. Council Officer Mike Smith explained where we currently are in terms of the club's future.

Southwark Children's Services will continue to operate the Club on its current stay and play basis until the current building is replaced. The One O Clock club uses a former POW hut, which is not fit for purpose and Capital has been allocated to build a new, for purpose facility for children's activities. Discussions are currently underway with Ivydale Children's Centre re the responsibility of managing the building. This has not yet been finalised, but if it is run by the Children's Centre, a much wider range of child-centred activities wll be encouraged so that the new building is better utilised than the present one. Stay and play activities (ie One O Clock Club) would form part of the package. The council are also interested to hear from alternative providers such as community groups. One person has approached me and I forwarded their expression of interest in the Club.

    • Police should be redirected to stop cyclists.  Well that is what is being suggested elsewhere Telegraph journo either put a message on social media that was hate crime, or just plain hate and that did not meet the bar for hate crime.  In any case it is a potential hate crime and I'd like my police to respond to this - up to them how and the priority. It's been picked up by the rabid media including GB news, as yet another thing to rant about. Edited, to add.  I've been subject to crime over the years and wouldn't like to trivialise it.  It's wrong, can be highly personal, and frustrating when the criminals are not caught.  One of my early threads here was when a bike was stolen and immediately on Gum Tree  I'm not in the hug a hoodie brigade, although we should understand why people may be attracted by criminality and society needs to address this  However I detest those who use the opportunity to plug their own agenda, as soon as the Telegraph journo was quoted that set me off
    • There was someone of that name living in Wandsworth over ten years ago.  I can PM the address if that would help?
    • PCSO's  are NOT real police,  They DO have the power to ask the real police to arrest someone, but then again so do you and I?
