Otta
Last year I was rubbish, and didn't get the tree until xmas eve. I ended up with a 7ft+ monster (I had to cut a bit off the top to stand it in the living room), for which I paid ?25.I appreciate the price had probably dropped for clearing before xmas day. However, I just enquired of the same people how much for a nice looking 5-6ft tree, and had to really make an effort to keep my mouth closed when she said "?50 for that one love"!Is this going rate?! Jeremy
We paid ?30 for quite a small one (maybe around 4.5ft), so maybe around ?40 would sound about right for a regular sized one. El Pibe
Whatever you do don't buy them in Dulwich, they seem a bit cheaper down West Norwood.Or just take a small saw to a motorway verge somewhere and bag one for nowt. Marie81
We bought one from the guy outside Mrs Robinson at the wknd, it's quite big about 7ft and cost ?60 with ?10 for the base. It's a lovely tree but when we took it home it could't fit into the base so we had to saw the bottom of it off! Chippy Minton
Someone at work reckons prices are going to be much higher this year because some subsidy (in Norway / Denmark ??) is no longer available. No idea if this is true or not. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20854-christmas-trees-how-much/#findComment-506183 Share on other sites

binary_star
We got a 5ft foot one from the Clockhouse for ?35 and it comes with a stand if you donate ?1 to charity. I didn't ask how much the stand would cost without the donation. malumbu
How are we supposed to judge whether supply and demand, and effective competition is working? They were totally unhelpful outside the Forest Hill Tavern tonight so not a good start or bech mark. But with so many outlets selling them surely we can shop around and get a deal. And with the recession (OK East Dulwich is immune to such things) demand, and hence price, should come down. Also interested how many of these outlets are legit!Last year we got one from Homebase (aka Argos) - it was the worst for years dropping all its needles by Xmas.?25 at the Forest Hill Road Supermarket, smallish, may see if I can get a bargain. They are also open on Xmas day, I like thi spalce Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20854-christmas-trees-how-much/#findComment-506853 Share on other sites
