Beauchamp1
My 2.5y/o son has an admission day/test for Dulwich Prep for entry next year (3+) Can anyone advise what?s involved and what they might be looking for from a 2 y/o! Many thanks for any advice. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/208404-dulwich-prep-3-admissions-whats-involved/ Share on other sites
Sqiggles
My experience is a little ealderly, but nothing to worry about. Just a bit of a chat and some games. Nothing you can prepare them for - although it helps if they are chatty children! jimbo1964
There was a sketch in Horrible Histories about the opening of Westminster School that made me laugh. 'Is there an entrance exam?''Yes. We examine your bank account and if there's enough in it, you're in'. womanofdulwich
I suspect you are probably being interviewed too. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/208404-dulwich-prep-3-admissions-whats-involved/#findComment-1290338 Share on other sites
srisky
My two did this a few years ago (they are now 7&5 years old):- they assess the children through play so have various tables with toys and chat to the children- my 7y old drew a picture but my 5y old wasn't asked to- finished with a story but no questions were asked about the story, according to my two i.e. no assessment of recall/comprehension/discussion.The children are only 2-3 years old so I told them they were going for a play with some new toys. I didn't prep them at all, in fact both my husband and I were so sleep deprived that we were barely reading bedtime stories let alone doing anything to coach them.I do know of a couple of children who were called back for another try at the assessment as they were not settling. Good luck! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/208404-dulwich-prep-3-admissions-whats-involved/#findComment-1290431 Share on other sites
srisky
No parent interviews - some children were brought in by grandparents/carers.The application form asks for the occupation of parents but this can yield quite nebulous answers (e.g. self employed) and there is no reason why anyone has to tell the truth so I can not see how it assesses parental income.
