My two did this a few years ago (they are now 7&5 years old):

- they assess the children through play so have various tables with toys and chat to the children

- my 7y old drew a picture but my 5y old wasn't asked to

- finished with a story but no questions were asked about the story, according to my two i.e. no assessment of recall/comprehension/discussion.

The children are only 2-3 years old so I told them they were going for a play with some new toys. I didn't prep them at all, in fact both my husband and I were so sleep deprived that we were barely reading bedtime stories let alone doing anything to coach them.

I do know of a couple of children who were called back for another try at the assessment as they were not settling.

Good luck!

No parent interviews - some children were brought in by grandparents/carers.

The application form asks for the occupation of parents but this can yield quite nebulous answers (e.g. self employed) and there is no reason why anyone has to tell the truth so I can not see how it assesses parental income.
