Phil&Teds Cocoon - do you need a mattress for it?

About to buy a Phil & Teds Explorer cocoon for newborn.

Can't seem to find anywhere that says whether you need to use a pram mattress in it or not... John Lewis staff also didn't know.

Can anyone advise us?

No, you don't. The inside of the cocoon is padded and very comfortable...as far as a sleeping baby is proof of that!

No but we did line the cocoon with a muslin or fleecy blanket - as much to protect from inevitable puking etc as anything else!

We just use a blanket, and it has been the best thing I've ever bought. Baby gets rocked to sleep in it every evening. Much better than a Moses Basket!

We also just used the pram sheet there which was washed regularly so that cocoon would stay clean. My baby is out of it already, so I have one to sell if you're interested, red one, perfect condition.
