Hi - in clearing out the shed recently I found a stash of the old brown paper bags we used to use in Southwark for leaves and garden clippings. Does anyone know if they will still be collected if I use them? Can't find anything on the Southwark web site - they might be too old to be queried anymore!

Many thanks for any info

Even people in flats have need for them when a complete overhaul is needed of balcony pots and plant troughs. I was told at a recent meeting that you can phone and ask for a nag to be delivered to your door! But now I know that they're available in libraries that's useful. They can then be left for collection with recycling.

I don't know whether all libraries have them, but Dulwich Library does (the main one near The Plough).

Also, they no longer restrict the number of brown bags they will give you at a time.

They do sometimes run out, though.

When I went to Nunhead library I was told they get them on Thursdays. Assuming it?s the same day for all libraries.

They also said they go fast!!

James, council libraries don't ration brown garden bags, and haven't done for some time.

    • Hello, I found some keys on Monday morning on Melbourne Grove. The keyring was not Donald Duck though. Could it be another keyring?

    • Wish they get rid of the tree in Barry Rd adjacent to the Plough, The roots are all over the place, Council re tarmacked them some time ago but makes the pavement uneven. You cannot get a mobility scooter over them as tarmac slopes. Witness a lady with wheelchair trying to get over , in the end her carer had to help over with 2 crutches then push the empty chair over. Also young children using scooters/bikes have fallen off at this point. Hubby spoke to tarmac workers when the work was done and they felt the area was very dangerous to pedestrians and the council should have authorised the removal of both tree and roots. Some prams cannot get over as well. Prior to Christmas, mother/carer with 2 children in double buggy had to walk in road with on coming traffic. We do need trees   I have 2 in my garden - one is well over 50 years old and we have it pollard every few years to prevent it damaging neighbours property.
    • Just that really - lookiing for a box to fit size 45 x 45 x 55 cm. Many thanks
