I saw a notice in the window of the Mag pub (is it still called that?) advertising foreign language clubs, French and other Euro languages, taking place in the pub for a couple of hours in the evening once a week. Presumably largely conversational. Has anyone used them or got any feedback about them please?

Hello

There's just one group, Language Lounge, that meets twice a week - Mons and Weds. If you would an invitation to come along, there's a large thread in the What's On section of this site that has all the info and how to contact us. English and Mandarin are on offer as well as continental European languages. We also do Russian, although I never know whether to describe Russian as a European language.

It's not about "using" us though! - it's more something you contribute to and benefit from in exchange - it's a private, by invitation, initiative, we're definitely not a service provider, and we are not funded by anyone. If you're looking for a service provider, a commercial language teacher or public sector course might be more what you're looking for.

    • Agree with @Sue the Dog is awful-nice building awful food. We like The Rossendale and Watsons
    • There are so many variables. Good chefs can having bad nights, post-Brexit staff shortages, your dish might be brilliant, your friend might order something that's inedible. In the end I think the best option is just to go to the restaurant which has the best overall reviews. If all the reviews are bad then avoid, but even if all the reviews are good that's not a cast iron gaurantee.
