Elphinstone's Army
I had a 'right sort out' and took 7 really nice jackets, hardly worn, dry cleaned, into the Mind shop. The young lady behind the desk said I was too late as they could not accept any more donations after (3.15?)I cannot honestly remember the time, anyway I was perhaps 15 minutes too late. The shop had enough donations apparently and didn't need any more, instructions from the manager. It isn't as though they have a shop full of quality clothes, a shame with so many generous donationsand donators here in ED, and alternative charity shops. I had walked, the bag I thought I could manage became heavier and heavier as a burden, now in Shelter, where they were well received although possibly parading around ED now, I hope so. Sue
alice Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> What is it? A two minute walk?I presume the OP was referring to the walk between her home and the Mind shop, not from the Mind shop to Shelter. But I don't understand the reason for your post even if she wasn't. I went in the Mind shop and stock looked really tatty and it smelt.I went in Shelter and thought the stock really overpriced tbh.I try and give to hospice shops as I think the items are more fairly priced and accessible to those who are in need.also I favour local hospices as the big charities have bigger resources for fundraising and more management on higher wages, Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/205042-mind-shop/#findComment-1280925 Share on other sites
