MrBen
A "Sean MacGabhann" (RIP etc) restaurant has opened in the West End, and one with solid East Dulwich credentials. And yes, before you ask, a multi story car park is involved.Check it out kids : Meat Liquor Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20483-sean-macgabhann-restaurant/ Share on other sites

Loz
Meat Liquor? What an awful name.Reminds me of the Rich Hall joke about the bar with the sign, "Liquor at the front, poker in the rear". Annette Curtain
You've got to take your hat off to Yanni & Scott.Opening a bar/restaurant at any time is risky.Good luck to them I say.I kinda like Meat Liquor, in a down & dirty way.Hmmmerrrrr-yeaaaaaah.Lick me....NETTE:) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20483-sean-macgabhann-restaurant/#findComment-499255 Share on other sites

Huguenot
Really? Help-Ma-Boab
Alex K Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Is Meatwagon-style cookery still offered at The> Rye?Rye now closed for refurb. Think its Feb time due to reopen and not sure meatwagon will be there then once new kitchen in place. I was chatting with Scott last weekend but cant for the life of me remember what he said. I was a bit tired and emotional by that point! katie1997
So have any forumites been to Meat Liquor and if so, what's your verdict?I had heard about it opening from two of the food blogs I follow, both have given it (tu) (one less predictably so)I've got high hopes for the food being good although I have to confess, like some others above, I really dislike the name of the place. Am supposed to be going along later this week so any menu recommendations appreciated, cheers. Jeremy
People seem to like it a lot, but I'm not really tempted by the no-reservations, queues-down-the-road scenario. Maybe one for a Monday night, perhaps. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20483-sean-macgabhann-restaurant/#findComment-503729 Share on other sites

katie1997
Same here Jeremy. Don't really fancy queuing around the block no matter how good it is.*Just read a burgerac review of it and they serve cocktails in jam jars.... somehow made me think of the Actress/wine tumblers debacle :)-D * I'm not worthy, I know. ibilly99
I ate their stuff at the Rye distinctly underwhelmed both at cost and taste - I'll let their numerous cheeleaders celebrate and I'll go back to Koya Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20483-sean-macgabhann-restaurant/#findComment-503944 Share on other sites

ibilly99
Nay food alternatives - their pork belly is to die for .. ?Kakuni ? braised pork belly with cider?. Not too sure I could spot the cider, maybe some lingering aftertastes of sweetness. All I know is that the pork was literally melt-in-your-mouth with just the right amount of fats to make it tender and juicy without being cloyingly sick. I also loved the mustard on the side. Altogether an absolutely brilliant little dish.http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4125/5039303697_0f20ea5d53_z.jpg Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20483-sean-macgabhann-restaurant/#findComment-503997 Share on other sites
