SteveT
You will never make the tory party with ideas like that Bredan, an orange stuck in the gob and electric flex around the neck usually suffices. Peckhamgatecrasher
Hey Chav - hold your head up. Not a bad article, you certainly weren't castigated. We all have a past that wouldn't bear scrutiny. You have been honest which is the main criteria for a politician in my view and I'll still buy you a drink. Good luck. SeanMacGabhann
I picked up the SLP this morning and thought the interviewer was very positive - and CWALD came across very well in an "extraordinary interviewer"My guess was correct as well ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2046-re/page/3/#findComment-59350 Share on other sites
Dulwich Born And Bred
I feel like I am missing out on a huge secret!I do not read newspapers ( as it is one person giving their version of the truth and I do not like the influence the media has) so I guess I shall remain in the dark about this big secret!I think we all have a few skeletons in our closets anyway! SeanMacGabhann
let's not get carried away HeidiHi - it's the South London Press we are talking about here. Calling it a newspaper is stretching things a bitOn the media thing in general, scepticism is wise but self-defeating if taken too far. Every version of any event we hear about, from any source be it paper, telly or friend is one person's version of events. So long as you treat a newspaper as a.n. other source it all helps to get a bigger pictureI trust newspapers (well - some of the grown-up ones anyway) far more than I trust ANY TV news - it frightens me to think the TV is where most people get their news from Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2046-re/page/3/#findComment-59364 Share on other sites
Nero
I will have to go and buy a copy, or leaf thru it at the lib. It is not online. Neo Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2046-re/page/3/#findComment-59367 Share on other sites
Maurice
Surely someone can transcribe it here for us. Word count of most of their stories is about 60 (or less when you take away all the emotive 'shocking' 'terrorised' etc. bits).Perhaps I'll pop out and buy a copy en route to Cafe Nero. Dulwich Born And Bred
It is a paper, it tells the news, thus newspaper!I don't watch TV either! I only watch Strictly come dancing and Heroes and that is my lot.I do agree that all information is someone elses version but the media DOES influence too many people and you cannot disagree there!Ignorance is bliss and that is where I shall remain...Blissful!Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> let's not get carried away HeidiHi - it's the> South London Press we are talking about here.> Calling it a newspaper is stretching things a bit> > On the media thing in general, scepticism is wise> but self-defeating if taken too far. jim_the_chin
it's not silly at all, i believe buddhists state that there are 2 equally moral or valid positions when it comes to keeping abreast of stuff. you can pay attention to the world and it's woes, involve yourself in it and do something about it. Or you can choose to ignore it all. to keep abreast of stuff and do nothing is where a lot of modern angst comes from. (tu) I agree exactly! I used to read papers but reading about murders, wars and such and being unable to do anything about it just got me really angry so I would rather not know! The news was worse, the amount of times I listened to all the stuff going on and being flabbergasted was not good for my blood pressure, so basically I just focus on my life and the things I have control over.
