Indeed - Brockwell Park surpassed my expectations. I'm always a bit indifferent to fireworks after a couple of minutes, but a pint in the PR and then fireworks to music from the last 200 years was really excellent and all paid for by our neighbours over in Lambeth...

Given that this is what we are capable of can someone explain why we are still fascinated by burning piles of wood.

Hyper Facade Berlin

Incidentally if you want to recreate this on your house in ED, they mapped the facade of a real building in Berlin, then created a virtual image of it, then put the real building in darkness and projected the virtual image onto it along with computer effects. Honestly it's about an afternoons work and about ?50, your kids will think you're so cool.

Because fire's tangible, and hot, and destructive, and dangerous, and evocative, and romantic, and primal, and smells great, and sounds great, and stirs the imagination, and you can cook potatoes in it.

Whereas that's, you know a powerpoint presentation with delusions of grandeur.

    • If you can use it exclusively for yourself for 12 years it might become yours by default under squatters rights? Maybe whack a bench on it and plant some flowers and then a little hedge around the perimeter to keep people out? I'm not sure if any of this is legal but it might be fun finding out?

    • Hello. Did you hear any further on this? Was there anyone at the council who was helpful to speak to? I am in a similar boat.
    • Dear all, Bit of a random ask but in such a supportive and accepting community, I thought I'd see if anyone had time to help 🙂 I'm conducting research for my MSc Psychology dissertation, using a brief anonymous survey to explore romantic and polyamorous relationships and how/if attitudes around this interact with factors such a family history and family making. The survey should take no longer than 10-15 mins and has been approved by the University of Roehampton. I'm hoping to circulate the survey widely enough that the data gathered is representational of the diversity in modern society across various aspects that constitutes personal identity. Some of the questions are of a personal nature and others could be considered a bit 'spicy', but just to reiterate, this is an anonymous survey.
