Just updated the recording of Make You Feel My Love with yesterday's one. You all sound great! Do please keep the suggestions coming for songs - feel free to do so in this forum, rather than as a PM, as then we can discuss them.

Richard, couldn't tell if the new recording was recorded over the previous one?

Some suggestions for songs.... I'm afraid my taste is somewhat old fashioned!

Isn't she lovely - Stevie Wonder

Thank you for the Music - ABBA

When you say nothing at all - Ronan Keating

Oh do, it is enormous fun. We have a Monday morning clash too but so far the choir has won every time and I don't even have to feel guilty about skipping (play)school as my little boy seems to enjoy it as much as I do. We always end up singing all the way back to West Dulwich, attracting some slightly strange looks.

Yes, do come along scareyt, I think you'll enjoy it.

The new recording replaces the old one on the website. I'll keep updating so that our progress can be followed...

Lots of exciting things happening with Hummy Mummies, watch this space...

I think you all sound great, I really love the toddler ranting in the background of the recordings :) Sadly, I don't think I'll be able to come along until my VERY cheeky toddler has been packed away to nursery- he's an absolute joy but incredibly hard work- and I have a lovely 4mo old too.

HOWEVER, if you ever wanted to record in a studio setting, Mr B has offered up his free of charge :) Yes, really. Not in a dodgy 'I've got a studio in my garage' way, either, he has a post-production editing and recording suite in the west end. He's in 'the trade', so to speak.

Keep up the good work, Mums.

I am just finishing a sewing course but then would love to join in for a couple of weeks before Christmas. You sound really really great! If you are still thinking of new tracks, Wherever you are (the new single just about to be released by the military wives choir) is just beautiful....a real tear jerker!

I'm afraid on my rubbish phone I can't see who was looking for an evening choir earlier in this thread but Camberwell community choir is a new, free, choir open to all. Details at www.musicatstgiles.co.uk (we just rehearse in the church, it's not faith based in case you were wondering).

Oh my goodness I have been listening and re-listening to that Military Wives track after watching the TV series, gives me a lump in my throat every time! Look forward to meeting you at Hummy Mummies soon after your course ends.

I would really like to sing something upbeat and fun! Something that makes you want to move!!!

I really like The Lovecats by The Cure, I reckon that would be loads of fun to sing... I'm also secretly partial to a bit of lady gaga and cee-lo green! Any suggestions from anyone else?

I CANNOT stop humming/singing the songs we've been working on. Really nice to have something to look forward to on Monday mornings!

Ruth, can I encourage you to come along to try it once if you're keen? I was very skeptical that I would be able to do any singing with my 3 year old and 9 month old in situ. But they seem almost stunned into good behaviour that Mum is doing something fun for herself! And the cafe in the church is good value so you can maybe bribe him with a treat after we sing? If it goes terribly wrong we won't judge you if you have to leave halfway through!

Hi Michelle

Well, I run 2 choirs which do that - there's London City Voices which meet at 6.30pm on Wednesdays in the City (finish at 8pm), or there's the Nunhead Community Choir who meet at Ivydale Primary School on a Thursday from 8pm till 9.45pm. The Nunhead Choir have a concert coming up next Sunday (11 Dec), check on the website for details.

Hello fellow Humming Mummies and Richard,

A real test of a mother's love this morning - we will be skipping choir today as Oliver has a stinking cold and cough and a very obnoxious nose which I don't think anyone will thank us for sharing. Have a lovely morning's singing and I will see you all next week.

Lovely sounds yesterday from all the Hummy Mummies. Thank you for coming all you new recruits, you did brilliantly. We had quite a lot of apologies due to sickness, but were in no way depleted in numbers thanks to a new influx of mums. Looking forward to the new year now.

We will have 2 more sessions this year and then break for Christmas. We will start again on 9 Jan at Christchurch, and will hopefully have sorted out another weekly session in West Dulwich too. I'm getting there with rolling this out in other locations as well - will keep you posted.

I'll do a little mail-out later on.

I've been meaning to post to say how much I'm enjoying Hummy Mummies. My seven month old also has a great time, and naps like a trooper afterwards! I've been practising my Cee Lo Green all week, much to everyone's amusement.

    • Hi everyone, we are trying to finslise our decision for enrolling our son for 3+ from September and currently considering Dulwich Prep or Herne Hill. We like both and appreciate there is no right or wrong answer but what we like about HH is great focus on early years and also being coed. However if we can avoid the 7+ stress then prefer to do that. Dulwich Prep is closer but the difference is not significant. we know children are very active and busy in DP and they have great facilities, but unlike HH, we don’t know much about their focus on personal development and emotional intelligence, etc! Also not sure about long-term impact of being in boys only school. Difficult decision for us and we appreciate feedback from parents if you can share please.    thank you
    • Yeah that was their old policy. Their new policy is to force you to have a water meter and if you refuse they put you on a punitively high tariff which effectively forces you to have one. I was doing well with my policy of polite resistance which was to say yes fine I'll have one fitted but then not actually book an appointment or cancel the appointments they made. But then I was persuaded that it would be much cheaper anyway.
    • Lots of lovely lilac shrubs in flower at the moment. Would anyone consider giving me a cutting? It would involve digging out a basal off shoot, roots and all. I'd love one for my new garden but I'm so broke that I have to fill it with plants the slow way!
    • You are welcome to have mine for free. I was just about to post! Three panels - 6ft by 5ft - weathered/natural on one side and painted brown on the other.
