EDmummy
First mention to your health professional (midwife or doctor) to make sure there is not underlying medical cause. If it is just one of those things - raise your feet whilst relaxing on the sofa and get some lovely calming foot rub and a caring husband to rub it in. I used the one from the Body Shop. Wiffwaff
Thanks EDmummy. Hoping it's not medical issue but will ask ( I did fly on Wednesday so was worried it might be connected) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20368-swollen-ankles-help/#findComment-496787 Share on other sites

Bit shocked by it.I will contact my doctor when home from Rome. ... I'm drinking lots of water too. Thanks allS Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20368-swollen-ankles-help/#findComment-496809 Share on other sites
Carrie
It might be connected to the flight but it can also be one of the first symptoms of pre-eclampsia - I would not wait until you get home to get it checked out. mooncake
is it very hot in Rome? I had swollen feet and hands when I was in Italy at 25 weeks - but it was definitely due to the temperature! apenn
I had this problem too. My ankles were so swollen in my latter weeks of pregnancy that I was limping! My midwife recommended wearing flight socks which really worked. I wore them at night and whenever I had a chance during the day and it did help. You should definitely mention it to your midwife though. It could be a symptom of pre-eclampsia as mentioned above, but would likely be accompanied by high blood pressure and distorted vision (seeing lights).-A Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20368-swollen-ankles-help/#findComment-497506 Share on other sites
scotlass
I feel for you, there's nothing worse! I found reflexology really helped with my swollen feet. The Dulwich Therapy rooms have two great ladies who helped me during my pregnancy. They can also do home visits.
