EDmummy
Just a thought but there seems to be a distinct difference of questions from parents of new born-toddlers as opposed to those of older children. Does anyone feel that we (parents of school age children) feel like they would like a separate section? Family Room Moderator
As nice as this would be, I doubt that Admin would have the time/resources to do this. For now I think we'll have to make do with one Family Room - it wasn't that long ago that we were lumped in with the main discussion boards, thank goodness we got a separate room! sillywoman
I have wondered about this myself (as a parent of teens, but with a professional interest in new baby stuff), but I can see that it'd be more admin work. We're a victim of our own success really. I wonder why the forum format works so well here in ED, but less well in other seemingly similar places? A whole other thread I know . . . Otta
We've all clearly got too much time on our hands.I get why you'd want a separate section, but then the new parents who need your advise and support, through scary times, would lose out. snowboarder
I kind of like hearing the stuff about older kids too - helps give some sense of perspective!!Can get that all the baby stuff could be tedious though for others... hellosailor
If you're not particularly interested in a thread or you don't feel it's relevant to you don't have to click on it, after all?I don't think we really need different sections for different ages, we can all exercise our own choice over which threads we open surely? I don't often open ones about secondary school admissions, for example, (apart from to scare myself) as my little one is still a baby, but I'm glad they're there, so I can dip in when I want to. And as Otta says, sometimes it's incredibly useful for people with younger babies to have advice and hear the stories of those with older children, that's part of the joy of the family room! Perhaps we just need to bump posts about older children a little so they don't get drowned out to Page 2 too quickly.Anyway, no use debating this any longer as Admin has spoken!
