El Pibe
watched zero theorem the other day.despite a great cast and lots of cultural nods, not least to his own masterpiece Brazil, it was just very, very hard to care. I've always liked that film a lot. I suggested we all watched it, when it was on TV a couple of Christmases ago. Within 10 minutes literally everyone had left the room. Same happened with Life Aquatic wSZ a couple of years before that... Otta
I thought Life Aquatic was shit first time round to be fair. Some films need a couple of viewings. Quirky character based films, often without a traditional story arc. So I can kind of understand the "what-the-hell-is-this-crap" reaction. Mick Mac
Has anyone else seen American Sniper. I thought it was surprisingly good. You need to take the American propaganda with a pinch of salt but it was I thought as good a representation of being at war as I have seen. El Pibe
on wes, only really liked fantastic mr fox before, but loved Grand Budapest Hotel, as i think i mentioned recently.Yeah jeremy, had a very similar reaction from the missus to brazil, clearly not for everyone then.Zero theorem was awful though. *Bob*
I was on a train sharing a table with a couple of squaddies last week. They discussed various technical inaccuracies within that film - and then moved onto reminiscing about a drinking game they'd played which involving vomiting into a bucket and drinking it. You meet such interesting people on public transport. Brazil.. that perennial Christmas family favourite. One of mine though. Otta
Watched Birdman last night. Hadn't read anything about it, just watched on the strength of hype and the fact I like Michael Keaton. Wasn't at all what I'd expected.Very much enjoyed it.But what did people think of the ending? (I liked it) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2025-edf-cinema/page/31/#findComment-829970 Share on other sites
Louisa
"It follows" saw it at the weekend, brilliant retro indy horror with a 1970s vibe to it, including the keyboard enhanced soundtrack. Good all round story and high suspense throughout. 4/5 from me. Louisa. Fantasy ending and a daughter wishing her father could fly despite the tell tale background noises. Really good film about people.
