mrs.lotte
Planning on trip to science museum with a gang of 7 year old boys for IMAX etc birthday trip. Bearing in mind they will be hyper and I will be grouchy so need minimal travel time, changes of transport and interaction with the general public, what route would you recommend? Thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20242-best-way-to-science-museum/ Share on other sites
Pickle
We went on Tues - train from Peckham Rye (or Herne Hill/West Dulwich etc) to Victoria, then a couple of stops in the tube. It took about 30 mins all in, very easy. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20242-best-way-to-science-museum/#findComment-494626 Share on other sites
Fidgetsmum
We went yesterday. Same journey as Pickle. VERY busy at South Ken tube though - my 4 yr old got a bit freaked so I had to carry her up the stairs in the crush. Other than that she was fine. The museum was however incredibly busy (the rain didn't help as everyone had the same thought) and by the afternoon, it was time to get out. But your boys are older so will have more strength and willpower than my daughter so you should be fine. Have fun. Bellenden Belle
If you're nearer to the Peckham end, then the 345 goes all the way from Peckham to South Kensington in about 45 minutes. Bumpkin
I've used the 345 to get back from the museum and usually a good option with tired children as less hassle than tubes and trains, but be warned, it took my sister 2 hrs on the bus getting back to Peckham on the day she took little B out! Cora
185 to Victoria then there is a bus (sorry on holiday and can't remember which one?!) that drops you off 5 mins walk from the museum. hpsaucey
52 goed from victoria to top of exhibition road. Walk down from there to museum takes 5 mins - avoids the stairs in the tube station if u have a buggy. Tips from someone who works there - go early then head to the things you really want to do - launch pad??? Interactive galleries etc first. heaving usually by late morning. Then do some of the 'quieter' galleries whilst everyone else queues for the more 'popular. Stuff. Cafes busy at lunch time.
