bcam
Beware this evening - there is a little scumbag on a stolen yellow OFO bike cruising East Dulwich Road trying to steal phones out of peoples hands. I was walking past the petrol station and he cruised past me slowly looking back, then crossed the road, sped up and tried to snatch a phone out of a guys hand at the playpark traffic lights. Gave chase, but he got away down towards the Gowlett. Black teenager, around 16/17 yoBlack hoodie pulled upBlack trackiesBlack trainersTried calling 101 but with the carnival on.... no joy. Be careful. Or be daring and knock him off his bike..... solar
Hate to be pedantic but I think you mean East Dulwich Road, not Grove. DulwichFox
East Dulwich Road and roads off of it have always been dodgy. Crystal Palace Rd. Adys Rd. Gowlett Rd. All dodgy after dark. and even during the day. Too many cut throughs and places to disappear. As is Crystal Palace Rd. Also with car parked both sides, plenty of street trees and regular traffic I?d have thought getting to pedestrins on these roads would be tough. Take a look at the Met's regional crime maps and you'll see.On another note, those hire bikes are a bloody nuisance and the sooner they're banned the better. Sue
FFS.This is London.I walk alone late at night all round here. It's fine. As with anywhere at night, or indeed during the day, you have to be aware of what's going on around you. If you don't want to do that, go and live in the middle of nowhere, or else live in London and never venture out of your house.FFS. Again :))ETA: In case it's not obvious, this is in answer to alarmist posts on here .... DulwichFox
Safe ?? See attached photo to see why I still get scared around here. Fox ETA I was knocked unconscious, Robbed, and left for dead. savvygirl
Yesterday I saw one of these bikes propped against a wall on the corner of Wood Vale and Lordship Lane. Where are these yellow bikes picked up from? Is it the local train stations? Are they really needed in an area where transport links are so good? These bikes are manna from heaven for unscrupulous little g*ts! JohnL
https://www.ofo.com/uk/enApparently the firms are Chinese - and the method works there (they don't wreck and steal bikes). savvygirl
The Chinese are obviously far more respectful. It's probably to do with upbringing and clearly knowing right from wrong. It does say on the OFO website "leave OFO bikes anywhere that traditional bike parking is allowed"! In this case obviously against someone's garden wall! jim_the_chin
I was circled by a guy on one of these bikes in Sainsbury's car park when on my phone yesterday. Thought it was a bit sus but wasn't on my guard as it wasn't a moped. Thanks for the tip.
