Cohen Braithwaite-Kilcoyne: The Goose Is Out! Thursday 13 September, The Ivy House, 40 Stuart Road, Nunhead, SE15. ?7 On the door, 7PM. Floorspots Welcome.

Cohen is one of the best singers and musicians we have ever seen, of any age. You won't want to miss this gig! :)

Cohen has been a musician since the age of 6 and took to squeezeboxes in his teens. He has since developed into a fine player of both the melodeon and anglo concertina.

He is part of the extraordinary trio Granny's Attic though has recently been dazzling audiences with his solo performances especially at many of this summer's folk festivals, where he has received rapturous applause and standing ovations.

His solo repertoire consists mainly of traditional songs with accompaniment from anglo concertina or melodeon. Alongside this Cohen also performs traditional tunes and the occasional un-accompanied song. Cohen?s style, approach and repertoire is rooted in the English tradition, however material and influences from Scottish, Irish, American and European traditions are also present in Cohen?s performance.

    • A beer in the garden would have been nice, I'm sure! Mine was a meal inside. I don't remember much about it except that it was horrible.
    • Went to the Harvester a couple of times to have a beer in the garden, it was quite popular and had a 'certain' charm.
    • I never went in The Grove when it was a pub, but I had a meal there once when it was a Harvester (I used to occasionally be a Mystery Shopper, and I was persuaded to go and have this meal because it was a bank holiday and they couldn't find anyone else to do it.) It was truly horrible. At least I got paid for eating it, albeit not very much, but I think I would have paid not to have to eat it. If it becomes an "affordable" restaurant again, I hope at least it has decent food. Why do "these youngsters" need "adult help" to be enterprising? They aren't six year olds!
    • At the end of the day, whilst these youngsters have been enterprising presumably with adult help & I also assume no local youth group - the fact remains that it is a prime site fir redevelopment be it a supermarket - Aldi, Lidel whatever or social housing which, let’s be honest here lots  of people need.   Know Idea why has been derelict gor do long anyhow, but somewhere on this site I think there is a problem with who owns it. And let’s not forget the homeless man who slept there - Front on Lordship Lane who had his home destroyed by I assume vandals a couple of years ago.
