Annette Curtain
I love a little foraging at this time of the year.I went for a quick reccy today at my Secret-Site though the weather's been a bit dry lately, so no show yet.Last year I picked a few kilos of Bay Boletus in one afternoon, we dried & used them over the winter. And if you happened to be listening to Radio 4 on Wednesday then you'll have heard Mushroom & Fungus expert Roger Phillips on You & Yours.Have a listen here. It was very enlightening, if your curious about this kind of thing. Also see link below for a free App, which i've yet to try in-the-field.Wild Mushroom Apphttp://www.jampol.eu/grafika/foto2/gatunek/podgrzybek.jpg "Y-ummy"I highly recommend as it's a great day out and a strangely addictive pass time. And remember there's only 5 that'll kill you.Happy Hunting.NETTE:) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20171-foraging/ Share on other sites

Barry Road Barbers
And remember there's only 5 that'll kill you.................... Please be careful...there are some that make you think that you can fly which results in instant death when you jump of the roof of your house Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20171-foraging/#findComment-493374 Share on other sites
steveo
Peckham Rye is magic for mushrooms at this time of year. Coincidentally, it's where William Blake saw a tree full of angels Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20171-foraging/#findComment-493381 Share on other sites

She was convinced it was a Puff-Ball and it turned out to be a young Flyagaric Toadstool."I could hear the birds feeding on the bird-table, as if they were right here next to me" she said of her auditory hallucinations.Bless her, life will never be the same.NETTE:-S Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20171-foraging/#findComment-493438 Share on other sites
katie1997
Foraging. Everyone's at it these days or so it seems. I blame Hugh F-W and his nostalgic Ladybird books myself. Next in series: seaweeds and grasses. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20171-foraging/#findComment-493525 Share on other sites

maxxi
Me too, but the dog and I sat down and discussed our differences before he changed into a nebulous paradox and I had to get the bus home from Chigley. david_carnell
I foraged some crab apples from Peckham Rye Park last week to make crab apple jelly with.I've previously harvested some cherry-plums from Warwick Gdns and made 5litres of cherry plum wine which is now a fine after-work refresher. maxxi
There were some excellent golden crab apples along Green Dale as well as an abundance of Hawes and Elderberries.. the Blackberries had been pretty much picked clean though.
