Cycling to The Oldest House in the City. Sounds fairy-tale. Watch out for the fairy folk.

This ride starts and finishes in Deal Porter Square, next to Canada Water Library, opposite CW Station, SE16 7AR. It's an easy 10.7 miles of flat. It takes in some other old buildings on the way including the remains of St Dunstan of the East and the Church of St Bartholomew the Great.

The Oldest House is hidden down a small street in Farringdon ? 41/42 Cloth Fair. It was built between 1597 and 1614, and it said to be the only house in the City of London to have survived the?Great Fire of London?in 1666. The records suggest that it survived because it was enclosed within a large set of priory walls. Lots of opportunities to knock it down since then of course and the records also show that it was originally part of a larger scheme of eleven houses featuring a courtyard in the middle, known as "The Square in Launders Green".

Harry leading will be leading. A bit more information is attached. The route is here: https://www.mapmyride.com/workout/2252218598. Further details here: https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/events/rotherhithe-healthy-ride-oldest-house-in-the-city/

These rides are organised by Bruce Lynn and friends on behalf of Southwark Cyclists. We are the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign (a charity which campaigns for more enjoyable cycling in London). Everything we do is free and everyone from anywhere is welcome.

Bexley Cyclists are the Bexley branch of the LCC and on the 18th we are riding to the Thames Barrier with them and having a picnic. Please come https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/events/healthy-rides-picnic-ride-to-thames-barrier/

    • In fact most times things are none of our business but when you see something in your vicinity, you are interested! let’s hope we don’t see any vulgar nosey parker’s on the forum again!
    • I'm trying to get my head around why people think it's exceptable to completely waste you time on here. I give people my personal details ie home address/ mob nunber and you just never hear back from them. You waste your evenings or afternoons waiting for people to collect your items for sell for them to completely ignore your texts and calls. Or another great one is someone will ask if they can collect now then turn there computer off for a few days then ask if it's still available days later!! I'm just so confused with people's mentality on here how people go about themselves on this forum and not one person gets back to me just to say.... Sorry not interested now but thank you. Arghhhhh!!!
    • Do you really want the fox brigade onto you? there are too many people entertaining the foxes & feeding them! they are going nowhere
