toast
Hello, Advice needed, my childs nursery has just said that they only pass on money for children doing 3 days or more, so children going 2 days get nothing. The nursery have recommended us putting him in for an extra day as it works out cheaper, really not satisfactory as i quite like his company!. I really don't want to fall out with them but i'm really annoyed esp as their website states that they pass it on to ALL children. I don't know many other parents there, what would you do?/ Does anyone get the discount elsewhere on 2 days? Fuschia
Are they open all year round? They can offer your your 570 hours spread out over more than 38 weeksMinimum entitlement is 15h x 38wThey certainly canOffer you 12.5h over 2 days anyway if they want to but I dint think they are obliged toWorth speaking to the lea thoughTry your local councillorCophttp://media.education.gov.uk/assets/files/doc/c/cl%20-%20co/code%20of%20practice%20for%20local%20authorities%20%20%20september%202010.docSee 3.4 and 3.9 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/19932-nursery-not-passing-on-free-15h/#findComment-480763 Share on other sites
Fuschia
I don't think they canInsist you book for more than 15h thoughSo they ARE prohibited fromDemanding you signUp for 3 full days unless they Are very short days! If they are doing that, they are in breach o'c the guidelines to bs registered for the grant Don't see why you can't arrange a place for 2.5 days ... They can't force himTo attend the half day, can they, really?! toast
Thanks FuschiaGood to see your back on the forum. I did call the council and a very nice lady said that we should get the discount and she would give them a call. I roughly worked it out and its worth over 2k so fingers crossed. Thinking about it, if they were insisting you took MORe than 15h they have probably broken their agreement with the council. toast
They were not insisting, just suggesting. My gut feeling is that they just could not get their heads around it. It does sound VERY complicated. Will feedback. Fuschia
I think they can either divide your 570 hours by a different no of weeks, or give you 12.5h free which is the max you cSn tAke in 2 days if for 38wWhat are the hours? BB100
There have been a lot of problems with the free hour entitlement because it usually costs private nurseries more than they actually get from the LA to provide it. Some nurseries have instead refused to offer it because of it. toast
Thanks for pm's, it clearly is possible. I am expecting to still have to pay a wack, just given that it would be a ?217 pm discount of we were 3 days I was banking on childcare costs finally easing. It's such a lot of money, worth checking out. Thanks again for the examples from other nursery by pm.
