Does anyone share my frustration with Specsavers in Peckham:( ? Everytime I order my contacts they get it completely wrong. You can never get a reply on the phone and if you venture into the shop there is at least a half hour wait and a sense of stress and anger at all the customers attempting to wait patiently to be served or to sort something out thats gone wrong. I think I would rather go to the dentist than go into Specsavers, (well, maybe not but you know what I mean?).

Don't wear contacts, but got 2 new pairs of glasses from Specsavers in Peckham in July, and to be honest I couldn't complain at all. It was more hectic than a little private place, but I didn't have to wait long, and I got 2 designer pairs for just under ?200. Then a couple of weeks later I went in to the Woolwich store as one of the nose pads had come off, and within 5 minutes I was out the door with them fixed.

I went to their branch in Victoria, they seemed very helpful. My days of buying expensive glasses finally came crashing to an end, so my credit cards told me.

I did venutre into the Peckham branch, their range seemed to have a very limited range and they seemed in no hurry to help.

Are they run directly by Specsavers or licensed by them?

I too visited Specsavers in Peckham on one occasion and found the staff singularly unfriendly. I told them I thought their lack of customer service was rather short-sighted. They said I was making a spectacle of myself and asked me to leave. I told them they needed to focus more on their customers and left.

  • 6 months later...

I use the specsavers in Victoria and agree wiv cdonline they are VERY friendly. As they are the nearest to me at work it was more convenient to visit that branch - I initially went in there to see if they could do anything with my poor broken glasses (broken my a colleague wiv a pair of pliers - tis a long and very boring story). They tried so hard to try to fix them but unfortunately it was the death of my old paine and hunter frames. Ended up booking in for a check up the following day and did the whole 2 for one offer and was sorted by the end of the week.

I've not actually been in to the Peckham branch but have heard the customer service skills are not the best. Tis a shame for one branch to have negative feedback as generally specsavers are good wiv service etc.

They're mad busy and a bit disorganised but I can't say they were unhelpful. My 8 yr old got her first glasses from that branch this week and everyone we dealt with was lovely. Including the dispenser who was happy to go back and search the stockroom for that special Beano glasses case. :)

I personally use R Woodfall Opticians (183 Rye Lane and also Nunhead)

very slightly more then Specsavers in terms of cost, but customer attention is second to none... and they also have time to correctly prescribe glasses / contact lenses if your eyes have any slight differences from the norm (and I am not just talking short or Long Sighted)

Well worth poping into this family run business to see how they can help you and what a difference personal service makes ...

    • Not many people live in the immediate area and it's been polluted for decades - less so now cars are cleaner.  Not that it is good to live next to a busy road but anyone buying or renting in the area will be well aware  A word of advice - laying into Southwark ie making negative comments will distract from positive suggestions. Me?  I'd like the Grove tavern to be a community space and,/or social housing.
