I received an email from Halifax UK saying that my online banking account has been deactivate cos somebody had three attempt entering my online banking account and they asked me to follow a link to reactivate my account, I didn't of course, this all seems very dodgy cos I do not do online banking and secondly the email was sent dated 30th sept and it got to me on 29th of sept.

Have anybody had the same experience?

I keep getting emails from various financial institutions and I ignore them all. I may have accounts with some of them but I have never used on line banking and am unlikley to use such a facility in the near future. Halifax is one I receive regularly and I do not have an account there anymore
No bank or financial institution will ever ask you via email to click a link to log in. It is a well known scam and if you hover your mouse over the sender you will see the real email of the sender, and it will never be the bank that claims to send it. Delete all such emails immediately or do as I do, and reply to the email, telling the thieving scumbags what I think of them :)).

I normally reply informing them that I have millions of pounds worth of welsh groats over the border from when I was fleeing from the patagonian liberation army and just need some account details in order be able to bring the funds into the country.

Weirdy no joy so far!!

Be very careful about where you hover your mouse.

Javascript has a ' OnMouseOver ' Event. this means that Malicious Code can be Run just by placing

your Mouse over a Picture or Text.

It is used quite legitimatly be many sites but can be abused.

DO NOT REPLY TO THE MAIL

By replying you could place youself on the so called ' SUCKERS LIST '

and you could end up being flooded with scams.

The mail was sent by a Machine, not a person. No one will ever read your return email.

Any suspect email... Just Delete it. And delete it from your Deleted Folder in your mail.

Funnily enough I've just had one about half an hour ago purporting to be from Northern Rock fraud department but clearly not.

What's a bit worrying is that I've only quite recently bought a Northern Rock ISA so I wonder how they knew or whether it's just a coincidence.

I've forwarded it to Northern Rock's phishing department (and obviously not clicked on the link in the email :)) )

ETA: OOER, what's really weird is that when I went to delete it, the email from "Northern Rock" had disappeared completely from my system. I know it existed because it is at the bottom of the forwarded email in my "sent" box.

Time to move on to an alternative project.

Just received this from Northern Rock - wasn't expecting them to reply actually!

Many thanks for your email. We confirm that the email you have received was not sent from Northern Rock, we will be investigating this issue with the highest priority.

Unfortunately, there is little we, or any other bank can do to stop these e-mails being sent. Please be aware that Northern Rock will never ask you to divulge your online security details by e-mail, telephone, or by any written communication. Further information on identity fraud is also available at the CIFAS website www.identityfraud.org.uk.

If you believe you have divulged any of your security information please contact Northern Rock immediately on 0845 607 6991.

Obviously I hadn't replied to the email or divulged any information :))

    • Had this problem a few years back.  I can hear high-pitched sounds easily.  I can't find my original post, but it was likely a faulty boiler cycling on and off as they do. It stopped not long after I posted!  Quick search on here pulled up lots of posts about similar.  https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/search/?q=boiler noise&quick=1
    • Do you think this is an illegal eviction and that the documents are not in order? You can get advice from Citizen's Advice or Shelter as well.  There is also a lot of advice on line - i.e. what the documents need to include for the landlord to evict the tenant.
    • Hello all, I am urgently looking for a solicitor who works in housing. I'd like to help my neighbours who have been waiting for a council flat for seven years. The council has forced them to rent privately and now the agency has send the eviction letter without any explanation. When they arrived in the UK they stayed in a flat for three months until they got evicted because the landlord wanted to sell. So this is the second time in seven years they have to find something else. They are a couple with two children. If you have recommendations for a good solicitor I'd be very grateful. They are very worried and don't speak English well enough to defend themselves. Thanks for your help!
    • Hi all, My bike was stolen from Railton road on Thursday 24 April between 11:52 and 13:05.  I know it’s a long shot but if you see the following bike around please let me know. Unfortunately don’t have many photos but it looks like the attached pictures. Thanks, Gayath
