lillyanginger
In previous years we have tried to visit a Christmas market in the run up to Christmas. They have usually been abroad...This year we would like to stay in the Uk, any suggestions of nice markets? Penguin68
There used to be one in Covent Garden (German style market) - don''t know if one's planned this year - also York had a Christmas Market last year - worth checking if there is one this year. Siduhe
I may be slightly biased as it's my hometown, but the York Christmas markets are usually good. There is one every year, not sure what the plan is for this year but look here. Bunny19
Birmingham's Bavarian Christmas Market is reputed to be the biggest in the UK, I used to enjoy the authenticity of it, many German stalls and food outlets. I went last year and although still very good a some of the stalls were selling tat, nevertheless still enjoyable, even if mighty, mighty busy on the Saturday I went. Blondie
Manchester is well worth a visit, always colder up north to make it feel even more like Christmas! janine85
I second manchester, as it's where I was a student. It's a European Market now, with a French section. I've spent Christmas in Germany and would say it's pretty similar, except for real snow (in Germany) rather than sludge. SimonM
I'd go with York too - big continental market close by the usual one, also close to Betty's tea rooms for a fat rascal >:D<Closer to home Bromley usually has them too Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/19900-christmas-markets-in-the-uk-suggestions-please/#findComment-489689 Share on other sites

titch juicy
there's quite a big one on the southbank- but by the time you've filled up on tiny ?4 cups of gluhwein, you might as well pay for a flight.however; if you're looking to go out of town it'll probably work out just as cheap to catch an easyjet or ryanair flight to one of the decent german one's.I can recommend Trier- it's quite small but beautiful.Flying into Luxemburg City would do it. Luxemburg City is also bloomin lovely.
