Des The Decorator - Painting and decorating for both interior and exterior projects

I found Des through the forum and he’s been brilliant. He decorated my flat - inside and outside space , to get it ready to sell. He did a great job for a fair price. He communicated really well since we were in Canada. He even replaced carpet that had got damp in the cupboards. A couple of weeks after the job he came back and fixed a faulty toilet. Great chap and I highly recommend him.
Can I jump in on a recommendation for Des - he did an amazing paint and finishing job on our bespoke bookshelves in Victorian front room. A perfectionist who worked through the weekend to get the job finished, and tidied up our fireplace too. Friendly and professional. 07971299009

Likewise we found working with Des just brilliant. We found him through carpenter Greg who alongside Des is part of a local group of trusted tradesmen and whom we found through the forum.

Greg had built a custom storage unit/bookshelf for our living room which Des expertly has painted. Truly a perfectionist and great tradesmanship! Christina

Another shout out for Des - he has painted for us several times, either full rooms or to correct other painting work we have had done - he is an absolute perfectionist, does a great quality job that lasts well, but also efficient and straightforward to deal with and does what he says he is going to do (which seems to be increasingly rare find!) - a diamond for your little black book!

Just want to recommend Des who's virtually painted our entire home. I've never met such a perfectionist. Preps walls properly and cleans up afterwards. Really professional, helpful and a pleasure to have around. He's also done quite a bit of work for neighbours who are equally pleased with the results.

A big recommendation for Des from me. Found him from the forum and got a clear quote for outside repainting our Victorian semi. Des sorted out scaffolding, gave us great advice on paint colour and finish and did a very thorough job. As others have said, he has excellent attention to detail, and is a real perfectionist - all the details were done so well. He also helped fix up a bit of brickwork. Top marks, would recommend!

I can also add to the other recommendations for Des and his team.   Very efficient, helpful and reliable, and couldn't be more pleased with the quality and standard of finish on the job they carried out for us.

Totally recommend and will definitely call him back the next time I need any work carried out.  Don't hesitate to contact him for a quote.

I have worked with Des a few times now and have nothing but good things to say about the quality of his work and his professionalism.  Has real attention to detail and goes above and beyond to get the perfect finish.

Minimal mess and a thoroughly good guy too.

Happy to provide further details on request.

Recommendation for Des - he just did an exterior paint job on the front of our house and touched up a few bits inside. Very good value, no fuss, no mess, and he came back to do a couple of bits I forgot to ask him to do. Also left him with keys to do the work while we went on holiday. Can't fault the guy.

We hired Des to repaint our hallway and living room. Straight from the off he was superb - ensured the flat was covered properly so there was no risk of drips. The paint job itself is immaculate and we are so pleased. Total professional & a lovely guy - couldn’t recommend more!

Cannot recommend Des The Decorator highly enough. Des & Mark did an amazing job, and the end result (double living room, hallway & staircase, downstairs toilet, bedroom, front door) is better than I envisaged. They were meticulous in their work, creative in offering suggestions to me, and solving little issues in the house that I didn't know I had. Really first class and I will definitely ask them to come back for any future work.

    • Hi if anyone has one pm me cheers
    • You can always check when they registered on the forum, if you are suspicious. But I recommended Aria, and it certainly wasn't my only post on here, and it was a genuine recommendation. ETA: And he didn't ask me to make it, to the best of my recollection. But even if he had, many local tradespeople ask people to post on here if they are happy with the work that has been done.
    • I am not a patient at this practice, but surely it is more sensible to have an initial  phone discussion, as often the GP wouldn't need to see someone face to face unless they actually needed to physically examine them? This then leaves the available face to face appointments for patients who need them. And if during  the phone call the GP felt you needed examining, then arrangements could be made for a face to face. If you feel your ailment is such that you will definitely need to be physically examined, can you not explain that to the receptionist?
    • Give Labour a chance, they've only been in government for a short time, and they inherited a mess! As regards the notice boards, to the best of my recollection they were originally intended as community notice boards, and certainly not for advertising local businesses (who would decide which businesses  should have the limited space on the boards, anyway?) East Dulwich may have become more gentrified since the boards were first introduced, but that surely doesn't mean they should now be completely  taken over for the benefit of  the "middle classes", to the exclusion of everybody else? As  NewWave says, surely these people have other ways to find out about groups and events of interest to them, which the "non middle classes" may not have access to, and even if they did may not be able to afford them. Several people including myself have complained to councillors about the state of the noticeboards in the past.  I think one of the issues is that they were originally maintained by local volunteers, who may have either moved out of the area or lost interest - or given up in despair when the boards were flypostered and/or vandalised. I completely  agree that the boards should be used for information about not for profit organisations in the area, but if regular maintenance can't be provided and/or they continue to be vandalised, then I think it would be better if they were removed altogether.
