Afternoon childcare needed

Hello

We are looking for the right person to join our team!

Who are we?

We are a happy family of 5 (boy 11, boy 8, girl 6). We live in East Dulwich. In September, I?m resuming full-time work as a primary school teacher; our eldest starts secondary school; my husband is starting a new job and we will have new childcare!

Could this be you?

What is the job?

- 3pm-6pm Monday to Friday

- Additional hours to cover parents? evenings and other school events, arranged well in advance

- Term-time only (34 weeks a year). Though there would be the opportunity to do some evenings during school holidays if that worked for you

- We will pay well for the right person

What else would be involved?

- Making a simply family meal most evenings;

- collecting youngest two children from school at 4:30 sometimes in the car and sometimes on foot. Being able to drive is therefore a big advantage!

- reading / homework with youngest two;

- bringing youngest children to cubs and swimming lessons;

- looking after our eldest when we gets home (he will travel independently);

- coming to the house before school pick-up to do light house-work (quick tidy, empty dishwasher, hang out a load of laundry etc).

Basically we are looking for somebody to stand in for us for a few hours every day!

We are very flexible (including starting date: ideally sometime in September) so please get in contact if you feel this could be the role for you.

Childcare qualifications are not essential but a can-do attitude, capability and a sense of humour are.

We look forward to hearing from you.

    • It's great that the council will do this, but it does seem a costly waste of their scarce resources, unless there are factors which I don't know about? Surely rather than dealing with a few piles of dog poo on request on an as and when basis they need to find some way of addressing the whole problem? What do other boroughs/countries do? Have things got worse since COVID, when the dog population seems to have quadrupled round here? Did some people acquire dogs without thinking through the less cuddly aspects of ownership? Could dogs be trained to use a litter tray and/or bury their own poo, like cats do? 🤣 (That was a joke, btw).

    • They could refund tix already bought though, couldn't they? We did this recently when we had to reschedule a gig due to the headliner's serious illness. That was a bit different because people had the option to transfer their tix to the new date when confirmed. But in  theory everybody could have got a refund, though in practice only a few people took that option up.
