Hi all

Although I have seen the thread explaining why not to buy a Phil & Teds, I think I am going to buy one anyway as I think its the best solution for me. I am going to try and get one second hand.

I am bewildered however at the range of Phil & Teds out there e.g. Verve, Vibe, Explorer, Sport etc. I have looked at comparison websites and the Phil & Ted website and I am still confused. Would EDF Phil & Teds owners (who like their buggies) be able to tell me which one they have and whether they rate it.

Many thanks

Lindsay

Well, I love my explorer 3.

I did a year of my baby in sling and single push chair and buggy board. Now having the double buggy I feel, quite literaly a weight of my shoulders!! It's great, the todler has the rear seat "just in case' ie when she's tred or I want her to be in a contained place. The now 13 month old, has the front seat.

I think you have to look at the strengths and drawsbacks of the different models- Beware if buying 2nd hand you are not buying a really old model. The newer ones have resolved a lots of 'problems'- like a easier position of the brakes etc.

In two seat mode for children who don't really need to sleep in the buggy anymore I think the phil and ted's are just great, if a little heavy up kerbs. They are not bad in baby toddler mode either.

The explorer is the newest 'standard' model 9Sport/dash/E3 all older). It folds with the add on seat removed, but the add on seat does fold fairly flat. It is not a small fold, even with the wheels off. I believe the verve and vibe fold in one.

Have you looked at the Britax B dual? It is pretty big/wide but I know some people rate it and it is much more affordable than the icandy tandems.

Thanks all - for some reason I thought they all folded with the second seat on... so I think its just the vibe and verve then? I am so stressed re the double buggy decision - I had planned to do what you said echo and sling with a single buggy for the first year, but I found carrying my little one really hard on my back last time so I can't see its going to be easier with a toddler to push!

    • The boards are for services provided by the council and/or non-profit groups or state agencies. Private micro businesses are to be congratulated and supported but they are able to advertise their services elsewhere, now more than ever, as part of their business plan. (This also applies to those who insist on plastering lampposts and bus shelters with their advertising, complete with protruding plastic ties at eye height!)
    • ‘All and sundry’ is just another phrase for ‘the community’ isn’t it?
    • Another strong endorsement for Niko here. Super professional, did a great job fixing a pipe and bottle trap in our bathroom, with no fuss or drama. He's also a thoroughly nice fella, so deserves all the good words being said about him here. 100% recommended. Give him a call 07818 607583.
    • They’re not there to be used by all and sundry for their private businesses (which earn money) — social media, postcards in shop windows, ads on the EDF and free newspapers are the right methods for that. I agree though that these notice boards should be kept in better nick and used as planned, namely to advertise council services etc.
