Nero
Anyone know where they are on sale in the area? I can't find them anywhere, either in SE22 and beyond. ratty
The Positive Place in Deptford is the only place I can think of! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1979-aids-ribbons-in-e-dulwich/#findComment-56866 Share on other sites
SeanMacGabhann
Haven't seen any ribbons as yet - but the red ribbon cufflinks I bought on NorthCross Rd last year do the trick just fine Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1979-aids-ribbons-in-e-dulwich/#findComment-56867 Share on other sites
Nero
Hmm. Kinda sad, eh? I found out you can get them from MAC outlets (makeup, not computers) and from Selfridges. If any shop owner wants to get a free box of 100 ribbons, they can get them from here. cdonline
The only place I can think of is the local STD Clinic at King's. They normally have them.If there are any businesses in East Dulwich wanting to fundraise for World AIDS Day, the HIV Charities can supply them.www.worldaidsday.orgOn the weekend, I was at a meeting with THT. One of the workers told us that a recent poll showed that 86% of people wouldn't support or give up any of their time for a charity involved in HIV. SeanMacGabhann
Which is why, out of all of the charities/causes, AIDS day is the only one I pro-actively wear. No-one (quite rightly) judges someone with breast-cancer (just as an example) so it's a self-evident good cause with plenty of support alreadyWhereas homophobia is so ingrained in society it needs shouting down.... Nero
Hmm. I subscribe to charities for cancer and other illnesses, but I do think that certain diseases get a disproportionate amount of press and support. Breast cancer definitely springs to mind. Heart disease is another one that's not that sexy, and mental health issues are nowhere near top of the list.
