vintage iroko hardwood worktop/desk/table and black trestles

Recommended Posts

Having served us well as a desk for many years, we've re-arranged the house and no longer have room for this.

The top is from retrouvius and is originally from a school laboratory. It's solid iroko wood and is full of original scuffs and marks which you could sand off but we never did because they give it lots of character. There's a hole and some screws still left in from the laboratory fittings - again, you could probably do something about this but we found it useful to stick a power cable through. It's an unusually long piece at 295 cm long. It's 60mcm wide. There are pictures in the link below but you could also look at the retrouvius website for better images of this kind of thing as they are still sourcing & selling these.

The trestles are black metal trestles from habitat - 60 cm wide and 72cm high. The top is just resting on them - not screwed or glued down in any way.

It works really well as a desk but we also had 14 people round it for Christmas one year, and it's looking like an amazing picnic table in our garden right now!

We'd like ?240 for the top and ?60 for the trestles, but will sell separately. We are based in Camberwell. Please let us know if you want to come and see it.

    • Thats a Labubu. I suspect it was lost by a trend-following adult who had it hanging from their handbag. They're a real fashion trend at the moment and people collect them. I hate them they give me the creeps!
    • Went there for a drink must have been about 7 or so years ago, lovely building but the bar and the whole place lacked atmosphere, funnily enough just last week we were coming back from a walk in the woods and wanted to go for a drink before heading home, neither of us faniced the Dog and Duck (aka crown and greyhound) so I suggested Belair House but my other half said It'd probably be packed out due to it being Mothering Sunday. Which brings me the fact that on one of the posts here it shows they are advertising for an event on Mothering Sunday for end of May-which is the date its celebrated in Europe and the US I believe...odd. I'm saddened to learn its gone to **** It would be lovely if it was a nice cafe/bar not too fancy but with character.
    • Recent phone anyone selling?
    • Yes, you are quite right about Gary Cady he took it on in the 90s.  I was thinking of the chef, but cannot remember their name.
