Keef
Honestly, don't base it around me, because I'm not sure if I can do it, and will probably be a last minute yes or no. If Tuesday is better for others, gop with that and I'll come next time...By the way Sean, good cheeky plug there! ;-)Not the first time I've been worshipped either :)-D Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1969-ed-curry-club/page/2/#findComment-56654 Share on other sites
*Bob*
Good luck with the local slop. Let me know which one is the least mediocre, folks! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1969-ed-curry-club/page/2/#findComment-56660 Share on other sites
georgia
Maybe if you went along *Bob* you'd realise that the standard generally is actually quite good.... Keef
Good in so far as an English curry house goes, but *Bob* has said before that he is in to more authentic indian food, and he has a good point.Still, the "slop" is still tasty :)-D Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1969-ed-curry-club/page/2/#findComment-56670 Share on other sites
Michael Palaeologus
Hmm "slop" is not a word I would use to describe most of the Asian food that you get round here. *Bob*
georgia Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Maybe if you went along *Bob* you'd realise that> the standard generally is actually quite good....I have 'had the pleasure' of three or four of the ones round here that everybody drones on about. It was just the same old same old. Apart from Ganapati, which is ok. Nope - back to Tooting I shall go for evermore. mockney piers
There's a fair amount of slop to be had in Tooting also, not to mention Brick Lane, but unquestionably Tooting is a a whole division above LL. mockney piers
I can't commit to the club as a whole, as eating out was first on the list of things to sacrifice in saving for the wedding, but I might be able to pop in to one or two. *Bob*
Agreed, there is some right old muck in The Toot as well. But the good stuff is mmmmmmmmm.Personally, I can't abide Brick Lane, with all those arm-tuggers hovering around on the doorsteps of their restaurants. Piss off - NO.. I don't WANT TO COME INAnyway.. sorry to intrude on the SE22 curry thread. I do try and resist the urge to bleat on (and on) about this - and mostly I succeed - but you must understand, with every other thread on the forum being about CURRY and because the choices are so average around these parts, I can't hold my tongue every time. Keef
*Bob* give me a recommendation for Tooting along the lines of Ganapati, I'm well up for a trip if it's better than that! *Bob*
Keef,Ganapati is South Indian - but I'd actually go to one of the Pakistani ones. The Mirch Masala is still my current favourite - and the prices are so reasonable, they're laughable (in a good way).Make sure you get some starters: seekh kebabs, Jeera chicken wings on-the-bone, Onion Bhajai (like no other onion Bhajia), and take a bag to carry home the excess for your lunch the next day. It's all a bit downbeat canteen stylee and the service is duff, but you can't beat the food. Michael Palaeologus
Fair enough Mockney. For info to all, please dont feel that you are making a commitment to attend every time we go for a fine ED curry. I think people will drift in and out as the mood takes them and circumstances allow.Perhaps a trip to Tooting some time in the future. I think I can be chattier company when I'm away from work, and not completely knackered. And passing time over a curry seems a very civilised way to do so.Ultraconsultancy. Peckhamgatecrasher
I don't like curry but I'm willing to learn. I was put off as a teenager by barfing on the two occasions I had curry. Probably had something to do with the amount of alcohol consumed but I always blame the curry. Are you willing to take me through it gently? SeanMacGabhann
Absolutely - I was nearly in my 20s before I "got" the curry thing. If you avoid the overly spicy, or the overly cautious (Korma is just wrong) then you should basically think of it as a stew. And good work for taking the leap! Keef
I have to admit, the one time I had the curry club thing at a weatherspoons, I rather enjoyed it... I had just done a 10k charity run though, so had worked up an appetite!
