James Barber
If you are for or against a 10m x 7m advertising hoarding here let council planning officer [email protected] know. The revenue from such a position may be sufficient. For the scaffolding to remain for some considerable time. Also it might set a precidence for a permanent hoarding - but as I say for or against let Southwark council officers know and really copy me as a ward councillor. StraferJack
but would it? where can I see hoarding like this permanently up around London? Just so I can see a real life example, and be aware of the potential horrors? Willard
James, I find most of your posts helpful and insightful, but this has to be the biggest load of bol$$%ks I've ever read on here. How many windows do you think the owners would like to block out with a permanent hoarding? There's plenty to chose from:http://dulwichonview.org.uk/assets/uploads/2010/07/19899621_3a48ebc9d5-400x300.jpg Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/19676-planning-application-for-the-foresters-arms-now-known-as-the-bishop/page/3/#findComment-476913 Share on other sites
Loz
Willard, I suspect the answer to that lie in the question, "How much money would an advertising company pay me to block out the windows with a permanent hoarding". James Barber
When I was one of the trustees of Bankside Open Spaces Trust ooh must be a dozen years ago I remember discussing an offer of ?60,000 for an advertising hoarding beside one of the parks we were involved with facing onto a road less busy than Lordship Lane.So we're not talking small beer. david_carnell
Nope.I think it would be interesting to know how long this is planned to be erected for but am not against it due to timescale, more in principle. It's ugly and unnecessary. Lordship Lane may not be the most beautiful high street in the land but it is relatively free of large scale advertising and major corporate branding. I like that. It's one of the things that keeps me shopping there. If you want to hide scaffolding - fine. But please don't do so with a giant advertising hoarding. And I shall make those views claer to the planning officer. happyhelen
If you want to object to a planning application, write to the Planning Department at Southwark. They will consider all representations, but will only take it into consideration during the determination of the application representations which are based on planning policy grounds. Unfortunately saying "its ugly" probably wont hold much weight. If Members of the Planning Committee refuse the application on grounds which aren't based on statutory planning policy, it is likely to be successful at any appeal, at the cost to Southwark Council. silverfox
If it were just temporary, say six weeks, to cover scaffolding then there's probably no harm in it. The alternative would only be that green strong netting which would be uglier.Could part of any permission be that the company benefitting and the advertisers make a reasonable/proportionate donation to local charities? maxxi
I don't know about bare scaffolding being "ugly" or "grotty" - I rather liked this when it was up - like ED's very own Christo. katie1997
I can't remember what its called but the scaffolding on the building works across from Buckingham Palace looks pretty. Cora
If saying it looks awful isn't a good arguement to put to the planning people can those in the know suggest more effective ways of putting it? And is there an online link yet that we can go to to comment?
