PaulDV
A branch of Greggs the baker is to open in one of the vacant units in Dulwich Village I?m reliably informed. It wil be opposite Gail?s next to the new butchers or in the old Audi showroom. I?d be interested to know how some of the more well to do DV residents feel about a cheap Northern bakers opening up in the Village. Jacqui5254
I stopped going to Gail's after I formally requested that they covered the food on the central table as there are often flies crawling on the cakes and sandwiches. Head office said they took my health concerns seriously. Last time I went in to Gail's in Dulwich Village and Wimbledon there was no coverings and nothing had changed. So, I will be happy to exchange my spinach and taleggio quiche for a Greggs sausage roll any day. It's all about respecting your customers, folks! JoeLeg
This might actually get me to visit the Village, have to admit a liking for their sandwiches. I think they?re not bad.If it sends local snobs into fits of apoplexy at the sale of Tottenham slices then so much the better! You can get in serious trouble for that, I?m astonished they don?t cover them. Jules-and-Boo
That's brilliant - they will do a roaring trade.I can just imagine the mornings, 'Just popping out for a run, darling....." and secretly scoffing a bacon buttie on the way home.... seems to appeal more than a fly-egg infested slice of cold quiche Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/194992-greggs-in-dulwich-village/#findComment-1254760 Share on other sites

Dulwich Born And Bred
I find hardly any of the coffee shops/cafes/bakeries around here cover their cakes and pastries. It?s always by the door enticing the flies, or by the till with people talking over it. No thank you. Robert Poste's Child
Given the new CEO of the Dulwich Estate was involved in the development of Borough Market, a Gregg's seems unlikely, J&B. Isn't there supposed to be a little Waitrose in the plan, or was that a wind-up as well?
