Can anyone recommend a pushchair for my 1 year old that's lightweight and is compact when folded up? I don't want to spend too much money (around ?100 max) as I already have an iCandy peach blossom for my 2.5 year old and 1 year old and will use that most of the time. I mainly need a second pushchair, so that my husband can take the kids to nursery one day week (the older one will walk) and leave the pushchair there. They have very little space for pushchairs and most other parents leave Maclarens there. A Maclaren seems like an obvious choice for me, but I'm not sure which one. Should I even bother considering other brands?

Other than using the pushchair one day a week for nursery, we may use it when going on holiday.

Hi, I also have a Peach which I love but have just bought a Silver Cross Pop for occasional use, holidays etc. I've not used it yet but it is a Which Best Buy and is currently on sale in Mothercare for ?97. Could be worth considering!

I was comparing it to Maclaren Quest for about the same price. Pop is slightly heavier but handles are higher so if your husband is tall it might suit him. Also liked the hood with sun visor which isn't on the Quest.

I used to have a Silver Cross Pop and the wheels used to kick out; I didn't really like it. It was nicked so I bought a 2nd hand and hardly used Maclaren Triumph. V light, easy enough to push, fits into the boot of the car etc - it does the job as a good stroller. Have a look on ebay - I got the Maclaren for ?70 but I'm sure you could get something similar from someone off this forum.
I've got a Maclaren (I think it's the second one up from the cheapest) which I got on eBay second hand and it's been brilliant. Just been abroad and needed another so got a half price OBaby which I've also grown to like. I think if I was to start from scratch again, I'd still go for the Maclaren, but the OBaby suited our purposes as it fully reclines. And it was cheaper than the Maclaren too.

Thanks for the recommendations. I've just been to the pram shop in Peckham to try the pushchairs out. Unfortunately, they didn't have the Maclaren Quest, but I tried out the Maclaren Triumph and Silvercross Pop. I found them both pretty easy to push and lightweight. The man in the shop said he'd recommend the Quest over the Triumph, though I'm not clear on what the difference is other than the Quest having an adjustable footrest.

I'll probably go for the Maclaren Quest, even though I didn't get to try it out as that seems to be the most popular recommendation (looking at KateW's thread also).

I think (sure buggy experts will correct me if wrong) that the Triumph seat folds flat (i.e. suitable from birth) while the Quest doesn't so only suitable from 6 months, but could be wrong. We loved our Maclaren - was a great buggy.

The Quinny Zapp is great - folds up smaller than a Maclaren, into a bag with a handle! I had an old style one which didn't recline but was as light as a feather and so easy yo push. The new styke ones fully recline, I believe. Petit Star do a similar thing for less money.

Also have a Quest, kept at Grandma's, which reclines partially but very lightweight and a good price.

Hope you find what you need!x

The quest reclines but not totally flat, it's suitable from 3 months. bought mine around a year ago and it's great for what it is. I leave it in the car and take on holidays etc although recently got a double Maclaren on here for the same purpose!

Your welcome to have a look at my quest before you buy one, it's a year old so shouldn't be too different from the 2011 model if at all.

Hi there, I have a quinny zap (which i am about to post on ED forum for sale) and can't recommend them enough. The brilliant thing about it is that you can push and steer it so easily with one hand....which was invaluable as i have another child who still needed hand holding whilst out and about. Let me know if you are interested in buying my quinny. It's in a lovely emerald green, has rain cover and underbasket and the carrier bag for it to all fold up into. Please contact me by PM if intereste. Sarah.
