akc74
Any of you been required to take out renovations insurance to cover any loss/damage inflicted by builders, and if so was it fairly hefty? i.e. more than our annual buildings over for about 3 months. The builder has organised the quote and I don't have much time to shop around. Thanks in advance for any experience here! alex_b
Is your mortgage company asking for it? Ours wanted to see evidence that our builders had adequate cover, but this should be a cost of doing business for your builder not something you pay for separately. akc74
No mortgage company didn't ask - most people seem to think it should be covered by builder as you suggest, though. Gooders79
Are you staying in the property whilst it?s renovated? This will make a difference. Yes it will be more money if vacant. akc74
Yes we are staying put. It seems it may be typical for builders to cover this cost, but our guy was relatively reasonable, perhaps in part because he doesn't include costs such as this one?!
