When does new Peckham playground open?

I'd like to know about the playground too - ie the one where the One O'clock club used to be. But if you have info on the playroom, that would be good too.

Based on scraping around for articles mentioning the playground it seemed like 'early June' was the target, but there is nothing official on this.

Does anyone know when the playground will open? The signage says spring 2018. If anyone can shed some light I?d be most grateful. Also has the cafe closed? It was closed on saturday? Any insight would be most appreciated.Thanks.

Hi midivydale, it was due to open for this week (half term), but unfortunately when they were laying pipework some asbestos was found and so this put the project back by a couple of weeks and therefore we are currently looking at mid-June.

Any update on opening date? It is now mid June which was the delayed new opening time according to Renata's post above but still looks at least a couple of weeks away from being finished to my (admittedly untrained) eye?

I asked a builder working on the playground the other day. He said, ?End of the summer... Maybe end of July if we?re lucky?.

Oh no, that is gutting. We were so hoping it would be ready for the summer holidays. Really Unfortunate that there has been so little information about this for local residents. Seems an awful shame.

If they make their end of July target that's only the 2nd week of the summer holidays so still plenty of time and many years ahead of us.

I'm just glad that PR is finally getting a much needed playground after all these years. We could have done with this years ago - My kids are now 11 and 8 so getting a bit over these things but for those with younger children, 'd be delighted that there is going to be such a great playground even if it is a month or 2 overdue.

They had found some asbestos when laying drainage and this caused some delays. I'll ask for an update and get back to you

Is there any update on exact opening date? I walked past today and the park part is looking pretty much finished. If it will be open on Friday 13th I'll be taking my toddler there!

It is currently scheduled to be open on the 13th . The "official" opening is on the 16th.

Yes, It may in the afternoon as all the barriers need to be removed. There are issues with two of the gates so only one will be open at first until the snagging is done on the other two. I'm sure the long slide will be very popular with younger residents :)
