Muckers

I've rescued the odd pan, in fact they're never too far gone IMHO

You may try this "nette?method"

Take a couple of cans of cheap chopped tomatoes & a bottle of vinegar.( if it's a big pan add 3/4 pint of water too )

Mix together in said pan & bring to the boil.

Make a paper/foil

and lay on top of the liquid

Place pan with lid on in the oven on the lowest shelf/rack ( but not the oven base )

Cook at 150 for a good few hours.

Nette(tu)

Is said pan stainless steel or aluminium BTW ?

You and D-C are quick to give up! My jam pan has been with me a long time and I am not about to give up on it that readily!

A month - you say?

Blimey! :-S

Oh-kay LM, I do understand the emotional attachment to the jam pan. I have used simply fairy liquid (the green one, none of that other pomegranate and vanilla shite) in the past and a lot of hard graft with a brush.

Someone suggested hcl earlier, never tried using that but I do have some if you want to give that a go. Good luck x

At last! A woman of tenacity and perseverance! *swoons*

Before coming on here, I did try boiling up vinegar (minus the toms) in pan - but nowt. Looks as though bio-powder might be the leader here, but thanks for tip(s) anyway Nette.

Muckers.

PS: it's steel, I think. Weighs a ton!

PS: I should tell you that my pan is not at all odd! The very inference!

*harrumphs*

As for you Lady Kat, to the naughty room you go...

Thanks for your offer BTW - hopefully I shouldn't need it x

Haven't a clue...never buy it...someone left a large bottle of the stuff at our house. But, I think, it was "proper" cola. Used virtually the entire 2 litre bottle.

Remaining damage to pan proving very resilient...postponed blackberry picking :(.

Patience LM - the bio powder will work but may need 2 -3 more treatments as before (and don't be put off if it smells a little - that means it's working) keep the faith!

KTdigits - STOP watching Dr. Who/Torchwood/The Time Tunnel/Stargate/Quantum Leap etc., it is warping your mind.

Have you tried scouring while simmering with the non-bio? Requires a certain degree of heat proof hand covering, but once helped me save a pan I thought beyond redemption.

May have been entirely in my head, but there seemed to be a synergy in the simmering swirl that yielded results. Long handled brushes recommended.

ooops...sorry...wrong thread...twas the picture of Arsene that confused me...tee hee

Yes the jam pan, thank you for your further comments. Still soaking with Ariel. Progress has slowed tremendously, but I shall not capitulate - yet! RosieH, if the situation does not materially improve by midnight tomorrow, I shall attempt your "trick" of scrubbing whilst simmering. Failing that, I'm digging out the ice-skating boots! But right now, it's time to continue with important celebrations...priorities guys, priorities...
