sunlight
Looking for some advice with regards to schools.I am new to the area and would like to find out what are peoples reviews on nursery schools and state schools within the area? I'm undecided on where to send my children. I have seen some amazing nursery schools and also some really warm welcoming state schools. any advice or experience would be truly appreciated. ad2000
For my money the state primary provision in London is very good. I've been happy with our choices. My gut feeling is think about private later on, if its an option. I also feel if you are going to bring children up in South East London then a mix is good - my son has friends from all backgrounds and feels more at home making his way around as he gets older. Good luck for the future - your children are lucky to have parents who want the best for them! hpsaucey
Where are you living? You're only likely to get into the ones really near you. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/192159-pre-prep-vs-state-school-in-peckham/#findComment-1247291 Share on other sites

ad2000
Hi. I live in Nunhead so I guess my son's school is out of catchment. I do know parents who have sent their kids to all of the ones you mentioned, with the exception of Dog K Hill. All happy, as far as I know. x Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/192159-pre-prep-vs-state-school-in-peckham/#findComment-1247357 Share on other sites
flocker spotter
The state schools you have listed are great, so I guess this is about your own feelings on a type of education, rather than whether the state schools stack up. To be concise, tho' a tad blunt; if you lack confidence in the state system, go private. If you feel that private education is not worth the money because your children will get a perfectly good education in the state system and will benefit from the greater disposable income your family will enjoy, then I would go with the Belham as your closest school, with the others ranked in whichever order you like. alex_b
Also be aware the Villa is only pre-prep, so you have to plan for where your child will go for prep. All of the other schools you?ve listed go through to 11. sunlight
thank you for your comments. After much talk myself and husband are going for a second viewing at The Villa School and Nursery. all of the schools were fab, but we just felt that this one in particular was the most warm and welcoming. while walking around the children looked very happy and the staff were all engaged and looked happy to be there too, where as a few of the other schools we visited this didn't show as much.
