Dr Bike will fix your bike for free Thursday May 17th

Recommended Posts

Our Dr Bike is one of the best. He's called Charlie and he operates with 2 top class amateur bike fixers. They will adjust your bike to fit, pump up your tyres, index your brakes (which means fix that annoying click, I think), tighten your brakes and generally make everything work more wonderfully.

They will be on Quietway 1 at the Dunton Road/Lynton Way lights from 5-7pm tomorrow Thursday May 17th. A picture of Charlie's tool kit is here https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/events/dr-bike-on-qw1-4/ and I'm hoping in the future to add a picture of his smile because it gladdens the heart.

With the mechanics who do all the hard work will be an auxiliary who drums up business, keeps the queue in order and hands out maps and gossip. Everyone is welcome. You do need a bike to take advantage of this amazing offer. Everything is free. A map of QW1 and a picture of the nearest coffee stop are attached.

We are Southwark Cyclists and we are the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign which campaigns for safer and more enjoyable cycling in London. I think that's a good idea, don't you. https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk

    • I suffer from being annoyed by this too. Would it not be feasible to make certain narrow streets one-way? Would that work? I'm sure someone will tell me why it wouldn't........
    • Unfortunately not a great job. Work done in a rush and delivered late, issues not addressed and poor communication throughout.
    • Children below 10 are under the age of criminal responsibility and I believe that although it's not strictly legal, police rarely make a fuss about them cycling on the pavement - it's a good way for them to practice regularly. I feel terrified seeing little children wobbling along on the road and would always have rather risked getting into trouble than endangering my child . I once saw a really little child cycling on Lordship Lane with her father and felt so worried I said something - and he told me it was because of people were complaining. In this case it was a tiny child and you weren't injured and nothing was damaged so it seems a bit of an over-reaction. It doesn't seem to me that what the father said to you was particularly rude although if he wasn't supervising I agree that wasn't responsible.
    • yeah but its a better class of dog faeces
