Local Fish and Chip shop legend. Ken.

(from @thankcodforkens Instagram)

"The Legend, the Original Ken, My Dad tragically passed away on Saturday 13th of July, We are devastated beyond words, he was the kindest caring loving gentleman one could ask for and an amazing Dad & best friend, he opened Ken’s fish bar in 1984 & devoted all this time and energy there up until his last breath he was still in his favourite place. known my many as “father Ken” due to his many years of service in his adopted community of Dulwich which he loved. I will do my best to keep his Legacy as great as he created it but also know how difficult my challenges are ahead of me with out having my best friend, my teacher, my dad by my side. He will be missed by many 💔💔 Love you dad, rest in peace 💔💔"

I hadn't heard of Jack Karlson until today, although the Australians amongst us probably will. Scroll down to watch the video - I needed a lovely gurgle today amidst all this horrible news :

'Jack Karlson, who shot to fame after ‘succulent Chinese meal’ arrest, dies aged 82

Karlson immortalised the phrase ‘this is democracy manifest’ in what has been described as Australia’s pre-eminent meme'

Quincy Jones

Born March 14, 1933, Chicago, Illinois, U.S.

Died November 3, 2024 (aged 91), Los Angeles, California, U.S.

Simply a musical legend of his time who's contribution to RnB, Soul and jazz music should never be under estimated.

Record producer, songwriter, composer, arranger, and film and television producer.

He worked with many of the soul and jazz legends himself, and he has a back catalogue of material I urge you to listen to and enjoy.

He will be sadly missed.

I was lucky enough to see West play Brunel in the state opening of St Pancras International.

Just found out that Penny Wooly/Archer died at the age of 105, playing the part until she was 103 - and the character about to celebrate her 100th on the programme

Duncan Norvelle, who had brief fame in national variety programmes before returning to the piers and winter gardens.  I sort of worked with him once upon a time.  Is that a mars bar in your trousers.  A different time.

    • Hi everyone! I’m Francesca Codispoti, a professional family photographer based in Dulwich. I’m working on creating a photography course specifically for parents—a chance to help you capture beautiful, natural photos of your little ones. But I need your input to make sure it’s exactly what you’d want. I’ve put together a quick questionnaire to learn what’s most important to you—like whether you’d prefer a single workshop or a short course, and whether you’d want to bring your baby / child along. As a thank-you, everyone who completes the questionnaire will be entered into a giveaway for a free family photoshoot with me!  The questionnaire only takes a few minutes, and your feedback will make a huge difference. Click here to fill it out: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScYJPygED8phHxleAF7keHCQQ8ek-3q9hrf_mb6doMvceL81Q/viewform?usp=header Thanks so much—I can’t wait to hear your thoughts!  Fran

    • I refer my good friend to the bus lane camera thread in the other section for how the council set/bend rules to ensure maximum revenue generation. They may also recall the original placement of the signs on the entrance to Burbage making it impossible for drivers to see them as they approached from Gallery Road and the "errors" that led to signs being placed along Townley with the wrong operating times on them. But, as one of the lobbyists for these measures, perhaps you can tell us why times closures were necessary in Dulwich Village...what purpose/agenda were they serving?  Here's what I think. The council knew there was going to be massive displacement of traffic from the DV LTN, as did the Village LTN lobbyists who helped them get it in place, and it was the quid pro quo to appease the council supporters.
