In this workshop you will learn to make your own pants using reclaimed jersey material and sewing machines.

This is a relatively easy project to make and a good one if you are new to sewing with jersey (stretchy material). However, you should be already comfortable with using a sewing machine in order to be able to focus fully on the specific features of working with jersey.

What you will learn:

- how to source suitable reclaimed material for making panties

- how to work with jersey and fold over elastic using an ordinary household sewing machine

- how to work with panties pattern

- how to cut fabric and construct your very first pair of panties

- what's the trick with the waistband and leg openings

- we will also have a brief look at how to create a pattern of panties you already have, so you can reproduce your favorite panties style ad infinitum

Materials provided: practically everything you will need.

What to bring with you: You can bring your own jersey (the basic t-shirt stretchy fabric, preferably with high content of cotton), the goal is to use reclaimed -- instead of new, store-bought -- materials where possible. You might have some t-shirts in a good condition you never wear (dig deep into your wardrobe!), you may have got your hand on some off cuts, or maybe someone gave you a no longer needed piece of fabric...? If so, bring in your fabric. If not, there will be fabric provided. You can also bring your notebook or a piece of paper in case you are a fan of note-taking (highly recommended).

What you will take home: A pair of your own handmade panties, the pattern you used to make them and a life-time panties-making skill you can further develop.

Capacity of the workshop: 5

    • It's a few years since I last grappled with a Windows installation, but I don't recall ever having done any apparent harm by using a Windows installation or recovery drive for repair purposes, and it can be effective.  Reinstalling the boot manager software shouldn't be a big or precarious deal for it.  It's already identified the problem and knows how to repair itself.
    • But has it been established that poor sewerage infrastructure can be a cause of flooding, for which legal responsibility could then be rightly attributed to a water company?
    • They're not. But the work to build bunds which hold significant amounts of water in Dulwich and more recently Peckham Rye parks, was undertaken to mitigate the impacts of poor drainage and sewerage infrastructure (which was under invested in for years) causing flooding to properties. The latter is (as I understand it) the responsibility of the water companies. I believe taxpayers have paid for the underinvestment in infrastructure by the water companies in two ways; firstly, by paying to have the changes made to the parks (I never got a clear answer from Renata on this forum when I asked, but think this is the case); and secondly through the loss of amenity those schemes inevitably create when those parks are waterlogged through the winter months. As I said, privatised profits, socialised costs.
