I have posted a thread in the lounge but so upset I wanted to let other families know about our experience.

We went to the Crown & Greyhound at lunchtime today (me, hubby, our sons aged 4 and 8 and their auntie) but my husband (British, Nigerian origin) was advised by the restaurant manager that they were fully booked. I noticed the booking sheet only had two bookings for midday so was surprised but happy to go to Rocca next door as that's one of my favourite places to eat with family.

I commented that I didn't think they were fully booked to my husband but he didn't believe me, so we went into Rocca and he stayed outside and called the Crown. He rang to see if they had a table, giving his name as John, and they said yes no problem within twenty minutes.

My husband went back and spoke to the General Manager, who did not know what had happened and was very helpful. The restaurant manager said a table had become available but this was obviously a lie as the place was almost empty of diners.

The General Manager is ringing me back after promising to look further at what happened. I will update this post after we've spoken tomorrow but for now I wanted to post as this experience was so disgusting, particularly in an area we love partly because it is so multicultural and friendly.

All I can say is how shameful of the restaurant manager to be so overtly prejudiced and what a shame.
