Jeremy
StraferJack Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> has snorky just shown his hand?I was thinking the same on another thread.Anyway... none of them a great on Brick Lane, but Aladins is consistently OK.Tayyabs is good but the queueing is ridiculous. Try Needoo grill round the corner for similar food without queues. nashoi
StraferJack Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> has snorky just shown his hand?Along with an unexpected interest in finance and claiming Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance as the last book he'd read.I agree with Jeremy re Tayyabs, it is very good but hardly a relaxing experience, even when the queueing is over and your finally inside. Better to leave a visit to the weekend in my experience. Senor Chevalier
Hot Stuff in Vauxhall is worth a crack if you are looking for that authentic experience - Tayyabs before it became overhyped...? DulwichFox
I worked near Brick Lane 35 years ago .. There were only 2 Indian Rests. back then and a handful of Indian / Bangladehi cafes. There was Clifton and another next door whose name I cannot remember but Salmon Rushdie used to go there. The Clifton back then consisted of long tables and benches.. Bit like a Pie & Mash shop. 12" Chappatti 5p Steamed Rice 10p Lamb Bhuna 40p Chicken on the bone curry 60p Chillies and onion salad FREE. How things have changed..
