Hi everyone!

We had our 12-week scan today (finally!) and we have, what looks like, a healthy little girl in there! I was amazed that they could tell the gender already, but the lady said it's 90% certain it is girl. And the down syndrome risk has gone down to 15-year old level (I am 37 so it is relief). Very happy. My due date has gone forward by 10 days from 27 May to 17 May. Still the last one in the group.

Feeling a bit better these days so plan to join you girls for future get togethers and 8 Dec is good for me.

Sanna

Hi all

Good to hear all the scans are going well. Mine today, a bit late as 23 weeks so fingers crossed.

Gutted I can't make the 8th. If anyone else can't make it but fancies meeting a fellow pregnant person before Christmas let me know - I could do coffee/breakfast one Saturday 3rd or 10th.

Jo

Hello Everyone,

Hope you are all well, the 8th looks good for me i would have had my 20 week scan that week so hopefully all will be positive...still not sure if we are going to find out what we are having, will see what we feel like on the day, but if my baby is anything like Nicoles we may not have a choice!

let me know the venue and it will be good to catch up with you all again.

see you soon,

Lucy

Hi Everyone.

I am hoping to make the 8th, but am not sure yet, so will have to confirm nearer the time, but am happy with any of the suggested locations.

Good luck with the scan Jo. Mine is on Thursday, very excited but a little nervous as well. Unfortunately I think we are away both the weekends of 3rd and 10th December, but am free the Saturdays before or after if anyone wants to do coffee/brekie then?

Emma

Hello ladies,

I'm afraid I definitely can't make the 8th (going to brave my xmas party that night drink-free) but would be free for a Saturday morning coffee on 26th Nov or 17th Dec if anyone fancies a pre-xmas meet-up. Very exciting to hear about all these upcoming scans - Jo I hope yours went well today! Hope all are well.

Sophie

ps Is anyone reading any books about the first weeks of baby's life? If so, can anyone recommend a good one? Bit overwhelmed by Amazon's offerings!

I can defo recommend 'A Perfect Start' by Christine Hill: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Perfect-Start-coping-months-parenthood/dp/0091917425/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1321373283&sr=8-1

No pictures, just words, but it was the ONLY book I read that gave a very accurate and useful view of the first few weeks and what you might come across and how to handle various situations etc. Was also a book my husband read from cover to cover and would probably agree on its acuracy and usefulness.

Only worth reading late on in pregancy as at the moment I would imagine you are probably too focused on just being pregnant and not thinking about 'the other side' as it were!

Its a really good and easy read

Another scan complete - all is well thankfully. The baby was bum down and curled up (!) so it took a while for them see everything they needed to. Have kept the gender as a surprise!

A question for longer term locals - any reccommendations for dentists (peckham rye/east dulwich) that allow the free treatment for preg ladies?

Thanks

Jo

Hi all

Lovely meeting you all the other week - it was great to chat babies etc and to not feel that you are boring people!! I can definitely make the 8th December, so please count me in.

Update from me; I have finally been promoted and have told work about my pregnancy - hurrah, girl power!

My 22 week scan is on the 2nd December - husband and I are still discussing/arguing about whether to find out about the gender. I don?t want to know - let?s see who wins!!

Congrats to those that have had their scan and good luck to those that have theirs over the coming weeks.

Emma - how was New York? I looked out for you as I ended up flying BA out on Sunday back Wed night. Was very glad to be home

See you all soon

Hi everyone,

I've now booked some space for 8th December for 20 people (just put this as a ball park figure of attendees).

Details below:

THE PLOUGH ON LORDSHIP LANE

THURS 8TH DECEMBER FROM 7.30PM

AREA BOOKED UNDER NAME OF 'ROSIE'

I've specifically requested 'comfy' seats and as there is a quiz on there that night we'll be seated away from the action.

See those of you who can make it there.

Rosie

p.s. sorry in advance if I forget faces to names, I only have two (Midivydale/Caroline and Countjc/Jenny) cemented in my brain since the first meet up - blame it on the hormones ;-)

Hello Everyone,

I have just found your thread and am gutted not to have been involved sooner!

We are expecting our first baby due on 10th May, very excited and trepidatious...

Would love to meet up with you Ladies at The Plough on the 8th December, if there is room for a new member?

(I may have met some of you already at the JAGS classes.)

X Elisabeth

Hi Everyone,

It was great to meet you all!

I'm up to meet on the 8th December.

Congratulations to all of you that had your scans, my 20th week scan will be on 14th december and I'm looking forward to see my twins again :)

Finally all my vomiting has passed and I've been feeling happy for a week now.

Re- Dentist

Hi all,

J0 - I think it was you that was after a denstist. I have been today for my check up at the Dulwich Dental Clinic (I think that is what they are called). They are on lordship lane and their number is 020 8299 1334. I havent got much to compare them too as I have always been with them - but they are good.

Hi ladies,

Thanks to my lovely neighbour Jenny/jenifire I've just found the thread and would love to join!

I have a 23 month girl and expecting the second on the 25th May (looks like I'm the last one of the list and will have plenty of time to see how you ladies with a toddler in tow cope).

Not sure if I can make it on the 8th, during the week hubby works long hours and have nobody looking after my little girl till 9p.m. (and by that time I'm usually exhausted in bed...no comment).

Ciao,

Michela

Michela - I'd love to claim credit but suspect it's Jenny/CountJC you should be thanking. As another one of Jenny's neighbours I'm sure we'll meet at some point though even if you don't make it on the 8th.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again on the 8th. Congrats on the promotion Jess.

Jenny

    • Indeed ianr, I didn't have time to include all Royal Mail options, thanks for that extra bit, they have been spot on for me, I use them a lot and have never had any issues with delivery, touch wood!
    • People are switching to electric cars irrespective of fuel prices.  100s of millions that could be spent on hospitals and schools for example have been lost due to fuel duty freezes and a supposedly temporary reduction.  Fuel is relatively cheap at the moment.  With a stonking majority when is it time to rightly take on motorists? Farming, I simply referred to Paul Johnson of the IFS who knows more about the economy that you, I and Truss will ever know. Food?  Au contraire.  It's too cheap, too poor quality and our farmers are squeezed by the supermarkets and unnatural desire to keep it cheap.  A lot less takeaways and more home cooking with decent often home produced, food should benefit most in our society. Be honest you do t like Labour.
    • In fact there was a promotional leaflet came through the letter box today, for sending by RM's parcel post by buying online.  There are also options mentioned for having the labels printed  at a Collect+ store or at a Parcel Locker.  More info at https://www.royalmail.com/.
    • Is it? Let's see  Farming is a tough gig with increasingly lower returns, if farms have to sell off land to pay inheritance tax it will reduce their ability to survive. Which in real terms could mean more farm land lost and more reliance on imported food which sees money flowing out, not in to the country.  But I guess as long as you get cheap food that doesn't concern you 😉  Lol "what about the cars"  again Mal... like a broken record....  Governments know that squeezing car drivers for more fuel duty will drive down income from taxes as people switch to electric, which would leave them with a black hole in income. Guess the fuel duty is a fine balancing act tiĺl enough electric cars have been sold to raise tax revenue from their use.
