FOUND. Missing ginger & white cat; Lordship/Heber/Pellatt area

Our ginger and white kitten hasn't come home for 24hrs, if you see him please let me know, we are really worried! Please check in your gardens and sheds!


He's microchipped but has no collar at the moment. He wanders in the gardens between Lordship Lane & Landcroft Road, between Heber Road and Pellatt Road.

He was actually found in a closed brown garden wheelie bin about 4 roads away. It was pure chance that we heard a miaowing while trawling the streets for him last night and happened to open that bin. We think it?s highly unlikely he got in there by himself so worryingly can?t help but think that someone put him in there. I thought it was worth passing on in case someone else is looking for their cat - make sure you check bins! I did actually report it to the police in case there had been any other similar findings, but thankfully there haven?t.

      Using the smart CCTV cameras is your best strategy - particularly if they have adequate infra-red capability. Setting them to be triggered by line crossing or areas of intrusion is worthwhile setting up as is linking them to a PIR sensor. The PIR could also be used to activate a sounder but that might upset your other neighbours. I have a few cameras around our property and I enjoy reviewing the recordings and apart from foxes and birds, I catch the occasional opportunistic thief on camera - like this one last Tuesday.       Not in Ed, but I was in NE England over the weekend and saw an otter in the wild! Never seen one before, it was quite lovely.

      Well unless the heron got them later, there were the  two cootlets. I think some others of this year's babies must have escaped the heron. Many years ago (and possibly still, though I never see them any more) there was a whole heron family on the island  - mum, dad and youngster. I don't know how long herons live. Maybe this one is the grown up youngster.
