mockney piers
Am a complete sucker for Goya, his Tres de Mayo (3rd of May) is such a powerful piece and has extra resonance with my own family's struggle in the 30s, with their loss, imprisonments and exile, but is sadly a timeless piece. However I give you Un Perro (a dog), it's just so beautiful and mournful* no biggie on the resizing in this thread i reckon. If someone wants to appreciate art, let the page take a while to load I say. Let's not sueeze the pictures into thumbnails. * Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1912-favourite-painting/#findComment-54426 Share on other sites

Keef
I don't "know" much about paintings, and always worry that if I say I like something I'll be a philistine. Reminds me of the Crash Test Dummies songWhen I go out with artistsThey talk about language and the cubists and the dadaistsAnd I try to catch their meaningsAnd I try to keep up with all of the martinisI don't know which should be my favorite painitingsIf I could see, if I could see, if I couldSee all the symbols, unlock what they meanMaybe I could, maybe I could, maybe ICould meet the artists, and get to know them personallyIf I were David ByrneI'd go to galleries and not be too concernedWell I would have a cup of coffeeAnd I'd find my surroundings quite amusing andPeople would ask me which were my favorite paintingsWhat if the artists ran the TV?All the ads would be for find scotch whiskey:Glenfiddich, Glenlivet, the whole single malt famlilyThe artists of the futureWill make up new things and different nomenclaturesAnd they'll stand amonst their picturesAnd they'll sing and laugh and quote from scriptures andWhen they go home they'll dream of brilliant paintingsI will find some that I do like and see how I go...
