KattyKit
Hi,I started to wean a while ago and it is gone really well but I am really struggling to think of meal ideas. I am rubbish at trying out new dishes putting things together and end up making the same fish pie thingy or chicken with veg. I have got Karmel's book but it is all a wee bit samey and safe! I was wondering if anyone would mind saving my baby from boring diners and sharing their baby / toddler meal ideas? Thank you! Knomester
I've posted some ideas on other threads in the past. Baby Knomester has just woken up from his nap so don't have time to search now but will dig out the threads later for you! Knomester
No problem! Scrambled egg is a good quick tea when you suddenly realise it's nearly 5pm and you've got nothing sorted. Baby Knomester just had scrambled egg with peas and a cheese scone out of the freezer - perfect because it was all ready in about 5 mins. Another lunchtime favourite at the moment is lamb casserole. I cook up a huge batch for the freezer and it takes no doing because it's a one pot dish. Then defrost as and when and serve with potato or couscous and extra veg. Does your little one like finger foods? If so, have you tried making homemade fishfingers and sweet potato wedges - they both freeze well too. Threadhead
Try watching I Can Cook on CBeebies (in our house it's on as default!) and they have v. simple recipes. My girls are a bit older and they like helping me make the food now. Oh, and you can't beat pasta pesto for tastiness/convenience! Or homemade pizza using small pittas, tomato sauce and whatever you want to stick on top.Now I'm getting hungry... KattyKit
Oh I now realise just how limited my repertoire is!Home made pizzas sound lovely Threadhead I am definitely going to try those. He is just getting into finger foods. Lamb casserole sounds a tasty idea - what kind of lamb should I use? Many thanks. Knomester
I'll PM you my lamb casserole recipe later or tomorrow when I have chance. We all run out of ideas so it's great to share ideas with other parents! I also find myself spending more time cooking for baby than for me and Mr...about to embark on a mammoth soup cooking session to use up the veg in the fridge!
