Louisa
From the British Home Stores days, I seem to recall this building is unable to accommodate additional sales floor space above, because that would remove stock room space. Unless they plan on going higher with the building?Louisa. hammerman
Interesting!I remember when C&A a department store had their shop in Peckham high street over two floors just opposite alongside Mcdonalds. That was in the 1970s, 1980s, early 1990s. After C&A it was Woolworths on just one floor so shops along there must have capacity to move upwards.Same as the Brixton H&M recently and suddenly introduced a first floor level shopping area with escalators etc. It's a shame that they don't have enough staff on the till points. cella
When I was in there yesterday the Manager told me they were staying open during the refit but with only about 25% of the retail space during that time. Woolworths!I miss C&A, not sure about the other two, though Woollies used to have some great albums in their sales :)ETA: As in vinyl, not photo or stamp :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/190729-primark-in-peckham/#findComment-1243522 Share on other sites
solar
It even had an M&S, when M@S only sold clothes. Also Jones and Higgins, co-op. Those were the days! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/190729-primark-in-peckham/#findComment-1243684 Share on other sites
