Louisa
Looks like a mouse to me. Unless it?s a juvenile rat. Louisa. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/190649-please-help-rat-or-mouse/#findComment-1242939 Share on other sites
Robert Poste's Child
Both pics look big for house mice and the tails are quite thick, so maybe young rats, as Louisa says. I have a trap like the one in your second pic and the mouse I caught looked much smaller in it. heartblock
? Baby rat, I think mice have larger ears and smaller feet. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/190649-please-help-rat-or-mouse/#findComment-1242947 Share on other sites
JohnL
Large Mouse if that's a mouse trap I think - The mice I have vary in size. If that's a baby rat I could have them too - but I've always only had mice.I caught one like that today (it got caught alive by the tail and was squealing) - I was so close to throwing it over the balcony (probably illegal I'd think) - but freed it and it ended up running away along the balconies of my neighbours.Never thought what to do when they're alive in a trap. malumbu
Mouse. We get them bought in by the cat. Personally never use 'dead' traps as they only come in for warmth and food and simply better to block their entry points and don't leave food out. But if we were infested I'd probably think differently. JohnL
By the way - If they're rats you (we :) ) need a bigger trap Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/190649-please-help-rat-or-mouse/#findComment-1243013 Share on other sites

adonirum
Looks like it all hinges on the size of the turd, then. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/190649-please-help-rat-or-mouse/#findComment-1243120 Share on other sites
Louisa
The turds don?t always give it away. I once found what I was expecting to be cat muck in the garden, and after further investigation Mr Louisa discovered a badger late one evening. Must be rare in London, never seen one myself before or since. The poo doesn?t always drop the guise of the perpetrator though. Louisa. dulwichrat
Haha what a plonker! ?Oh hello, here?s a very suspicious thing that?s appeared with some bait in it, I?d better just stick my head in and find out if it?s a *SNAP!*? LOLI?ll never understand why mice always go for that routine, but those big-eared losers do love it! Louisa
In your experience dulwichrat, what sort of bait would tempt you to stick your head in one of those contraptions? I?m assuming the rats of Dulwich are quite picky. Louisa. Haven?t had so much as a sniff of the stuff since it turned into M&S. The M&S p?t? is over-engineered with parsley and posh black pepper, not for me at all. JohnL
I'll get rid of the mouse infestation in our building one day - Two caught last night and I've only got 2 traps set at the moment.Tempted to tie them up by their tails as a sort of serial mouse killer trophy rather than double bag and dispose. Robert Poste's Child
Maybe you could borrow a cat? Mind you, then you have to deal with bloody and mutilated corpses, so traps possibly less stomach-churning first thing in the morning. JohnL
Maybe the building could share one :) Like many blocks the building management have bait stations in shared areas and garage (which could mean the mice dying in the walls I guess) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/190649-please-help-rat-or-mouse/#findComment-1245094 Share on other sites
